Meet Amy Schnee of Amy Michelle Hair CO in Loveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Schnee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I found myself pregnant at the age of 19, I knew cocktail waitressing wasn’t going to provide a stable income or life I would want for myself and my child. So I decided to enroll in hair school. It was a twelve-month program and I qualified for a grant being a young mother. It was a great way to start out and provide for a young mother. Little did I know I found my calling. I quickly established myself and grew for seven years in an Aveda salon. When I was pregnant with my third child I realized I wanted to be available for my children first and still have my passion continue so I built a salon in my basement. I figured it would be temporary but 11 years later I’m still thriving.

I always had a love for hair extensions and custom colors, so I started to dive DEEP into education. I’m LOVING the way education is available now with Social media’s presence. I would be lying if I didn’t say there have been hard and humbling moments working out of my home. But I have learned there is no perfect place, it’s what you make of it and the energy you bring. I’m grateful for the journey and I have no doubt something big is around the corner. It’s easy to compare your journey to others but when you stay grateful and stay in your lane while using your strengths it’s rewarding and life-giving to those around you. Don’t underestimate the underdog. Xoxo

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I left Aveda I was at the peak of my career. Even though I knew I was supposed to build the salon in my basement (without windows which can be depressing) when I moved in I figured it was temporary. I had to learn a whole new color line and lost clients because of it, which was so hard since I almost never had to redo work.

I questioned who I was and did it all alone. Even though I’ve overcome that season I still struggled doing it alone. So I moved into a salon for six months which wasn’t the right fit for me. So when I came back to my home salon and my clients followed me they all agreed they LOVED being in my home salon instead. I still struggle with having no windows or another stylist to work with on the daily but I’m being patient as I know that will be in my hopefully near future.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I specialize in Hand Tied Hair extensions and color. What sets me apart and what I’m most proud of is the amount of education I’ve taken and how much I care about the quality of the service and product I provide.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I believe that everything that I’ve done leading up to this point has led me to where I’m at. So I take the mistakes as a lesson I needed to learn. Moving forward I will rise up stronger and seasoned.
