Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey Weber.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started when I had my first little baby girl. With every new milestone she made, I yearned to always remember it. I wanted to see those memories in my head, so they would always be apart of me. That’s when I took the camera into my hands and really started to see I had a talent in photography.
I started capturing things like her first smile, her first time walking- her first time eating solid foods! Things like this happen so quickly that it’s hard to fully remember what you’re going through. So, I decided to capture it all. I ended up doing this with the rest of my kids, and before I knew it, I became a full-time photographer.
The one amazing thing from this is that I learned how to truly capture that raw emotion from people. I learned that these pictures I was giving my clients were memories that they would have for a lifetime. And that’s why I do what I do. I love to capture the beauty in people’s life and have that memory that they can always have with them.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. It’s hard to stand out in an industry that has so much talent. I realized that comparison was my biggest enemy so I had to learn pretty quickly that I was an individual. My business was my own and not to be stood next to anybody else’s.
My biggest advice to women getting started in this industry or any other is not to compare your growth to someone else’s growth. Comparison is the thief of all joy. You are on your own journey not someone else’s. If you compare yourself to others, you are going to miss the beauty of how far you have come and your own growth.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Aubrey Nicole Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a natural light photographer. I love to chase sunsets and take pictures of families, maternity and couples. My favorite thing to photograph though is birth. Capturing a baby’s first entrance into the world. Their first breath, their first interaction with their parents, there is absolutely nothing better.
I like to capture moments, not so much posed photography. I love interaction and love. Hugs, tickles and kisses. All the good things in life.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
When it comes to self-help books, I love anything by Brene Brown. I’ve read Braving the Wilderness at least a hundred times because that book is just power.
The only podcasts I listen too are True Crime podcasts while editing my pictures. My favorites being My Favorite Murder and Crime Junkie.
I follow photographers who inspire me. Who’s words affect me and also take stunning photos.
