Meet Tyra Drager and Whitney Benton of Dual Imagery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyra Drager and Whitney Benton.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As long time residents of the rural Eastern Colorado-based town of Joes, we were both running separate and successful portrait & wedding photography businesses. After working independently for a number of years, we both found ourselves discussing the possibility of collaborating and offering our clients the unique experience of hiring two professional photographers to capture their wedding day, rather than one. In doing so, we’ve simplified the hiring process for our clients both local and out of state and have found a way to not only offer a financial advantage to our clients but also for ourselves!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with any business, there have been highs and there have been lows! The process of transitioning two fully independent businesses into one was a series of trial and error but also a season of growth and expansion for us both! Collaboration brought the opportunity to learn from one another in all areas of business from client communication, marketing, photography technique & more.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
Dual Imagery is a duo wedding photography business specializing in both local and destination weddings and elopements. We offer our clients the distinct advantage of having two professional photographers on scene to capture their special day, ultimately providing double the coverage without the up-charge that you might find with other photography companies.

What were you like growing up?
We both grew up in rural Eastern Colorado with families rooted in agriculture. Having grown up in the farming & ranching industry has heavily influenced both of our lives today. After high school & college, we both found ourselves back in our home-town communities where we both now reside with our husbands & families running and operating our own farms & ranches.
