Meet Alexandra Whitehead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Whitehead.

Alexandra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got back to Australia after working abroad and immediately started growing a psychology practice. It started off as just me, and then the team grew to seven employees. Growing the business was fun, but I wanted more.

I remember sitting at my desk after a long day at my psychology practice. I’d seen eight people back to back for coaching. My first client at 8 am was amazing. I was completely on board with his journey and excited about where he was heading. My last client, though was a little bit painful. At that moment, as I leaned back in my chair, I had an epiphany. I realized that I knew how to attract people like the client I saw at 8 am. The right client – in that they’re right for me and I’m the right fit for them.

It didn’t take too long to figure out that it wasn’t simply me and my business with this problem. Essentially every health and wellness business owner, like a dietitian, PT, speech therapist or psychologist, has this issue. And if these professionals aren’t feeling satisfied, their business goes kaput. This is a real shame because this means people miss out on getting the right help.

A business plan was put together, then we were awarded some funding which allowed us to develop our MVP. At that time, we were a SaaS platform and marketplace. A year on, and many learnings later, we’re now a completely different company. We retain the same mission – helping health and wellness practice owners grow their business online, so they can connect with the right clients, and find freedom, flexibility and financial independence.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road but it has been a road worth traveling. When we started out, I was finishing my MBA, running two companies, working in private practice full-time to pay the bills, was on two boards and I’d had an awesome baby. So, it was a busy time. I now know how important it is for me and my team to have some reflection time. Once I found that again, we were able to make massive and impactful strategic shifts. I now pay someone to help me find time to reflect.

Also, in 2019 I moved countries from Australia to here (USA) with my husband and daughter. This was a very intentional move for our personal and business development. But as you can imagine, it’s not super easy to navigate a new country and its processes. Imagine my reaction when I realized I had to pay full cash for a car because we had zero credit history. Or when the local preschool told me there was an eight-month waiting list to get in.

We got here though. In comparison to where I’m from, there are many more opportunities to act upon. I’m a big believer in opening up possibilities, creating opportunities and then deciding what pathway to venture on later.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
We help health and wellness business owners find freedom, flexibility and financial independence. We do this by teaching them how to grow their business from an online perspective, so they reach their ideal clients. We take systems and methodologies that are rather complex and break them down into small and achievable actions and learnings paired with our personal support. Then our customers implement these strategies into their business with a bunch of confidence.

Having some or all your business online is resilience boosting because you no longer need to rely on your geographic area to support you. Gone are the days where you had to be on a prominent street corner to attract customers. This also means when you move location, you’re not starting from scratch – in fact, you can work from wherever in most cases. We know people make better life decisions when they’re not operating from fear.

Customers that love us are:
> Business owners who’ve been in solo private practice for a while and are now ready to take their business online so they can get more freedom and financial stability in their life.

> Health and wellness professionals who are about to dip their toes into the private practice ocean. Starting out online is a great way to enter the market risk-free. It takes a while to set up impactful digital sales funnels and marketing channels though. So we encourage people to start this process while they still have a job from which they receive regular income.

As a business, I’m most proud of our interesting set of skills including psychology, digital marketing, business, and education. This makes for very clever private practice strategies. My greatest joy is seeing our business owners step up their game and start to live the life they imagined when they first started out. While we’re based in Louisville, everything we do is online.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, compared to where I’m from there are many more opportunities to embark upon. Also to be found here are people that have done this all before and who are willing to help.
