Meet Shannon Grace of Camelflage in Broomfield

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shannon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It started one day in yoga class. Front row doing sun salutations in front of all the mirrors. Up and down stretching and flowing, I felt my tight yoga pants riding up giving me the dreaded… frontal wedgie. Yikes! I felt the need to pull my pant leg down constantly to free up the uncomfortable seam wanting to get close and personal with my lady parts. I thought – there has to be a product out there that solves this “issue” not only for yoga but for cardio kickboxing, barbell or even just doing your own thang on the gym floor without all the men staring you down and trying to have a conversation with your crotch. Hellloooo, my eyes are up here, mister muscles.

Sigh… Long story short, there was not a product out on the market for this issue, so I came up with one on my own. Like a mad scientist making prototypes in my basement, I tried out many different styles and materials for this panty. I knew I wanted to make it easy to wash, sturdy, breathable, comfortable and works! I knew I didn’t want an insert that you put inside a panty because what if it fell out during class? Omg. I wanted the insert to stay put. I finally got it right and had to try it out at the gym. It was all of that and more. My poor husband (at the time) was getting annoyed with me as I was trying out new prototypes. I would ask, “Hey honey, do I have cameltoe when I yank up my yoga pants? What about now?” Haha. Poor guy. Yeah, not really. Did I mention he’s my ex-husband now?

Anywhoo, Eureka! I got it right. I came up with a funny name because people remember things that make them laugh. Having cameltoe is funny and lighthearted, so the name had to be too. Camelflage or flage your toe, it’s all good. Ten years later, women are still needing this product and are so happy to discover it. I get thank you emails all the time saying how much this product has changed their lives and built confidence at the gym. I know it may sound silly that undies could change your life but it’s the little things in life that you end up appreciating more than anything else.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No. It has not been a smooth road. At all. You hear of these success stories that seem to have happened overnight. Then you wonder why it’s taking so long for yours to happen. Why can’t I be making a million dollars a month like Susie Sprinkles over there. Sad face. In reality, it took them working 80+ hours a week, no social life and neglecting their family to finally reach that point. Oh, and it took many years as well. It wasn’t overnight. My struggles have mostly been finding a good manufacturer who specializes in women’s undergarments. It takes special sewing machines and a special skill set. I run out of inventory often and that makes customers upset. I am always on the search for a new manufacturer with low minimums.

My company sells a specialty women’s undergarment for activewear. They mainly are worn under tight-fitting yoga pants, leggings or even skinny jeans. We are known for keeping your private parts private. It’s actually a modesty panty to give you a little privacy when wearing tight pants. I am proud of helping women not only across the country but across the globe to feel confident. There have been knock offs but we are the original visual privacy undergarment so customers keep coming back because they trust the brand.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Yes, I have big plans for the future. I want to expand the brand and come out with more product lines. I already have a prototype in hand and I’m testing it at the moment. EXCITING!
