Meet Krista Sandor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Sandor.

Krista, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Romance novels saved my life. Let me explain. In 2015, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and my world turned upside down. During those difficult first days, a friend sent me a romance novel.

She told me, “This is what you need right now.”

She was absolutely right. That romance novel provided the perfect escape from the uncertainty and worry that had taken over my life.

From that moment, I was hooked.

Authors Christina Lauren, Pamela Clare, Alice Clayton, and Emma Chase, just to name a few, introduced me to strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes. They made me laugh. They made me cry. They made me blush more than a few times.

My favorite thing about romance is the happily ever after. I love knowing that, whatever challenges the characters face, they’ll always come out on top in the end.

A year after my diagnosis, I decided to put pen to paper and started writing my own romance series. My complete 5-book Romantic Suspense Langley Park Series is available now, and I’m currently working on a series set in Denver which will release this summer.

I’m happy to report that I’m doing well. I’m an MS warrior and living life to the fullest. When I’m not writing happily ever after, you can find me running 5Ks and chasing after my growing boys.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
You know the phrase, you don’t know what you don’t know? Well, when I started in indie romance, I knew nothing. I wrote my first book, had my husband throw together a cover, loaded it onto Amazon, and waited with bated breath to become a bestseller.

Guess what? There’s a lot more to indie publishing than just writing a book.

Luckily, I found a helpful support group on Facebook. Through this group, I learned the ins and outs of publishing. I connected with a professional editor. I hired a graphic designer to create a new cover, and then I rewrote that book after spending a significant amount of time improving my writing craft. I also learned that being an indie romance author isn’t just about writing. There’s PR, marketing, ad creation, ad targeting, networking, signings… The list goes on and on! What began as a hobby has turned into a full-time career, and I couldn’t be happier.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I write steamy contemporary romance with toe-curlingly hot heroes and heroines you’ll want as your best friends. My Langley Park books are second chance at love, small-town romances with plenty of girl power, and happily ever after that will leave you smiling for days.

When I ran a free one-day promotion of the first book in the series, The Road Home, it made to #24 on Amazon’s Top 100 Free Books and garnered over seven thousand downloads. This book has also been chosen to be part of a romance book subscription box that will be delivered to subscribers this summer.

And there’s more romance to come! I’ve got a new contemporary romance series set in Denver that will release this summer.

What were you like growing up?
It’s safe to say, I was a nerd. We moved around quite a bit, and I spent a good amount of time on my own. This is when I started making up stories. I’d never considered making a career out it, but I always kept a journal. Thanks to my grandmother, I’ve always been a sucker for a great love story. My Grandma Sandor loved her romances. She had an entire bookshelf packed with those fantastic Harlequins from the seventies and eighties. As a girl, I used to peek at the covers and imagine the glamorous lives the characters lived. My grandmother passed away before I started writing, but I know she would have been so proud to add my books to her collection.
