Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Castro Croy.
Hi Alex, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off as a Juvenile Drug Court Probation Officer with Denver Juvenile Court Probation and continued as Juvenile Diversion Officer for Denver District Attorney’s office for a total of ten years combined. In my tenure in the juvenile justice system, I realized that the majority of the youth and families that were system involved had unresolved intergenerational trauma that leads to Maladaptive coping mechanisms and delinquent/criminal cases. Seeing the ongoing need for bilingual, multi-cultural, trauma-informed, co-occurring counseling services, I decided to pursue my master’s degree in counseling. Upon my graduation, I was offered an adjunct teaching position at the Metropolitan State University of Denver in the Human Service Department and in 2015, I expanded my private practice and bought Life Recovery Centers in Denver and in Northglenn. Colorado. Currently, we serve a system serving youth, school-based referred to adolescents and youth, individuals, couples, and families. We collaborate with the Colorado Department of Human Services, Judicial State and Municipal Probation Departments, State District Attorney Diversion Programs, FBI Victim’s Advocates Program, Department of Corrections, and Public School (Charter/Local). I started with three counselors in 2015 and currently count with 22 counselors that are passionate about the client’s success and empowering others to recover their lives from addiction and trauma.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The challenges that I have faced as an entrepreneur have been believing in my dream and dealing with inner doubt. I am not a business major and was never in school to study finance or business administration. So engaging in the learning experience and being open and graceful with myself to make mistakes has been hard, but a learning experience. My grandmother Graciela (mama chela) always said, “only two things are guaranteed in life: Death and Change.” Since taking on the business, life has forced many changes and a need to evolve and grow. With change comes risk, and with risk comes fear. Leaning into this fear, evaluating and completing risk assessments (pros and cons), and believing in self and vision/mission has helped me fulfill my goal for Life Recovery Centers, which is to eliminate all barriers to mental health and addiction services. In the five years, I have had the privilege to lead and serve as Director and Owner. We have expanded facilities twice due to growth (once Northglenn, Denver-pending). Currently, LRC is an approved agency to provide Mental health and substance use treatment for five major insurance panels in addition to Colorado Medicaid. We have and continue to overcome challenges that arise and stay true to the goal.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am a pretty transparent person. However, many do not know that I am fascinated with archetypes since I was a child. I have learned more about these in my spiritual upbringing and have evolved in my studies and practice of these in the collective unconscious/consciousness. My self-care practices have evolved in the past to include much meditation, oracle/archetypal readings, and reading inspirational books about the psyche, soul, and depth psychology. I am fascinated with the psyche’s evolution as it presents itself in images, dreams, soma, and relationship with others. As an ENFP, my ongoing need to be social fuels my passion and inspires me to learn more about life and connect with others.
