Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Postek
Hi Anna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
“A couple years ago, I was reading an article about how food is poisoning our nation. At that time as a mother of two kids’ life was very busy so I didn’t put too much thought into it. However, after doing some research I decided to come up with a snack that both kids and adults can enjoy. I chose ingredients that work best for our guts (the brain of our digestive system) and included antioxidants that support our gut as well as our entire body. For centuries kombucha has been known as the best probiotic containing live cultures for our body which inspired me to include this as part of the snack. I wanted to include fruits with antioxidants to give a naturally delicious flavor that also aids our body with all of its natural processes. Finally, I included chia seeds full of omega 3 to really pack the snack with holistic and yummy ingredients. I have to say combining yogurt and green tea kombucha was a challenge but after few months’ the product was completed and as delicious as I had hoped for.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Many different yogurts need thickening agents to make a creamy and rich texture for yogurt. One of the challenges that I faced was combining kombucha a thin liquid with yogurt while not using thickening agents. I really wanted to avoid the use of thickening agents in this product, because I wanted Yo-Bucha to be a holistic product, meaning that I didn’t want to use unnatural ingredients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Yo-Bucha
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Yo-Bucha is the first and only product on the market that combines yogurt and kombucha. Having this be the first product of its kind was a risk in and of itself. Another risk was that kombucha has an after taste so it was tricky to add these ingredients together and have a product that was not only good for you but tasted delicious as well. The goal was to have a yogurt that is creamy with a mild flavor without allowing the kombucha that has a vinegary (sour) taste to take over the flavor profile. Finally I didn’t know how the product would be received since it was such a new and different concept. However with hours of research and product development, Yo-Bucha is both delicious and being received extremely well by our buyers!
