Hi Sarah , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My aesthetic journey started in Austin, TX in 2006. I was the manager for the downtown location of a popular laser clinic. After almost 2 years of managing estheticians, learning about skin care, lasers and aging gracefully, I was hooked. From there, I wanted to expand my skill set and become a Registered Nurse. After a few years in the hospital, working for a stem cell company, my passion for the Aesthetic Industry began to grow louder than ever. After a personal move to Durango, Colorado I found a clinic needing help from an aesthetic nurse. This relationship blossomed, and over the two years of working, the previous owner offered my the Durango location clinic. It was an opportunity I could not pass up, and almost 6 years later, Aesthetics and Wellness Center of Durango is running successfully.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My first year owning my the business was definitely the most challenging for me. It was the first year of having to deal with the background noise of a business, rather than performing my passion everyday. From marketing to accounting, there were first time road bumps along the way. Thankfully, my passion carried me through. In year 6, there’s still struggles and challenges that present themselves, however with experience the tune carries a softer sound.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Aesthetic Registered Nurse and owner of an Aesthetic and Wellness clinic in Durango, CO. I specialize in skin rejuvenation, medical skin care, cosmetic injectables and lasers. I am know for my natural beauty approach with rejuvenating each patient. My saying is, “We don’t want our name on your face” Meaning, we don’t want you to look “done” or that you’ve received treatments. We want others to view you as rested, aging well, beautiful skin. I am most proud of following my vision that I’ve had for over 20 years of owning a Wellness Clinic that can be a “one stop shop” for all your beauty needs. I believe what sets us apart from other clinics is the comfort and care each patient receives when they walk through the doors. It’s a place you want to return to and trust with your aesthetic needs.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Patience! As a business owner, you never know what a day will bring. Challenges or success…be ready for both and handle with care. It’s important for me to stay calm and patient with each day. And in the end, everything always works out.
