Today we’d like to introduce you to Dixie Krystals.
Hi Dixie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Coming from rural Pennsylvania I feel prepared me to have a humble more appreciative approach to life and success. My family was very supportive of fostering my talents but we didn’t have the resources of knowledge on where to guide me. it wasn’t until I graduated high school and went to a performing arts college that I finally found my people and was able to work on my talents and make them better.
I feel that having a theatre background has prepared me to be a better Drag Entertainer and business person.. I am now able to navigate contracts, audiences and life.
This has lead me to being on TV in Generation Drag (HBO MAX) and Camp Wannakiki Season 5 (OUTTV)
I am currently performing in Europe as The Diva onboard Virgin Voyages, Scarlet Lady.. The first cruise line in the world to employ a Drag Queen full time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think anyone that has success would say they got there smoothly. Many times in the industry you are going to hear more (no’s) and that is ok. you have to learn from those experiences and reflect on what you might have done that didn’t land you the gig… Most times it is as simple as not having “the look” for the role or show.
These are the moments that make you stronger and make you work on your craft more so that you are able to stand out and meet the demands of the ever changing industry.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dixie Krystals LLC?
I formed my LLC back in 2019 as I started to have more opportunities. Part of my organization is to give back to those in need, whether it be a person in the drag community or specifically LGBTQ Youth that are in need. My business specializes is creating and providing elevated drag experiences that has been curated and refined over the past 25 years in the business.
Any big plans?
I am looking forward to growing experiences all over the world. Creating minds and hearts of those that aren’t exposed to Drag Entertainers.
