We recently had the chance to connect with Amanda DeCarlo and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Amanda, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of in my recovery journey is building a deeper connection with my Higher Power. This connection has become the root of my confidence, faith, and trust in the path that lies ahead. It’s given me a strong sense of grounding that allows me to show up and be of service to others in a more authentic and impactful way. Through this process, I’ve learned how to stay committed to doing the work and moving forward—while also releasing my tight grip on control and trusting the journey as it unfolds.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amanda DeCarlo. I am a Holistic Peer Recovery Coach and the founder of Wheels of Change – Holistic Tools for Recovery Professionals. My work is rooted in the integration of Reiki, Sound Healing, Breathwork, and other holistic practices to support both individuals in recovery and the professionals who serve them. These tools have been gathered and refined over the course of my own 20-year journey of recovery, during which I have learned to live and embody its principles firsthand. Every element of my offerings has been self-tested and deeply integrated into my personal experience. I’ve been actively practicing and teaching these modalities for two decades, and I’m honored to share them—especially with those who spend their lives giving to others. It is a true privilege to give back to the givers.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Honesty, trust, and forgiveness are foundational principles that can make or break a relationship—both with oneself and with others. I’ve witnessed firsthand how being dishonest, even in subtle ways, creates deep and often irreparable damage. It generates a field of separation where authenticity can’t take root. But when honesty is present, trust begins to grow, and from that trust, forgiveness becomes possible. I’ve learned that maintaining healthy internal boundaries around honesty is essential—it creates a space where true, meaningful connection can thrive and be sustained.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
In short, suffering taught me that I am capable of anything. Every challenge, rooted in fear, has become an opportunity for growth—and today, I can say I have a 100% success rate in overcoming that pain. Just for today, I choose to thrive, not merely survive, because I deeply understand the contrast between simply getting by and truly living.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I differentiate between fads and true foundational shifts by looking at consistency and longevity. Real, lasting change doesn’t happen overnight—it’s built through resilience, dedication, and ongoing commitment. Foundational shifts are grounded in practice and integration over time, not in fleeting “easy fixes” that offer temporary relief but little depth. While trends may provide short-term motivation, it’s the consistent, intentional work that creates meaningful and lifelong development.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe I am doing what I was born to do by living in alignment with my purpose—showing up authentically and sharing the gifts that have been given to me. At the same time, I recognize the importance of being a responsible and contributing member of society, which means doing what’s needed to support the lifestyle I’ve chosen within the world we live in. Even in my day job as an IT Programs and Systems Coordinator, I’m able to infuse my deeper purpose as a healer and manifester into the work I do—creating more fluid, intentional communication across our company. I trust that my Higher Power has placed me in these roles to sharpen my skills, expand my impact, and continue evolving. For me, living fully and being present is the essence of purpose—and in that, I know I’m doing what I was born to do.
