We recently had the chance to connect with At’Eaze and have shared our conversation below.
At’Eaze, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first thing I do in the morning is wake up and pray, thanking God for allowing me to sleep peacefully and wake up peacefully. Then I drink some water and next is getting ready for work; brushing my teeth, shaving, if needed, washing my face, moisturize, and get dressed. Afterwards, I head downstairs to the kitchen to get my youngest son’s lunch, water, and diapers/wipes in his backpack for school, put my oldest son’s lunch and water in his backpack, and make my daughter’s flavored water for the day. Right before heading out the door, I make two 24oz mass gainer protein shakes, grab my lunch if I’m taking one, grab an Alani-Nu energy drink and fill up my water bottle for work. Then I hop in the whip and say another prayer thanking God for the day, praising him just for who he is, asking for forgiveness of my sins, and asking for a smooth day and protection over my family and myself.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go by the name of At’Eaze. I’m a hip-hop artist from Eastside Denver and have been doing so since the age of seven. I just turned 30 this year, so it’s been a journey. I’m a unique artist because I’ve always had a heart to inspire, encourage, and enlighten people with positive messages, intricate lyricism, intentional content, and a rare style.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was just a kid with a dream of making it into the music industry, and standing out as one of the few artists of my kind. I was told by a countless amount of people “You the one!”, “You different, ain’t no way you ain’t gonna make it!” “You one of the best rappers I’ve ever heard, and I’m not just sayin that just to say it.” Of course, all of this fed into my dream, desire, and ego.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Plenty times. when things don’t look like they’re going the way you dreamed them, especially after a long period of time, I think it’s normal to doubt yourself and wonder “Is this really meant for me?” “Am I really as good as they say I am?“ “ Am I wasting my time?”
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
my family has always come first. Anyone who knows me, whether close friend or not, knows that about me. The Davis Gang will always be priority number one. That’s my wife and my three kids on earth plus the one that’s an angel.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
10 years left to live?! That’s a wild question! Lol. I would probably stop allowing my past pain and trauma to effect my way of day to day living. Stop living as if healing can wait until I’m ready.
