We’re looking forward to introducing you to Destiny Auckerman. Check out our conversation below.
Destiny, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A typical day for me begins with a morning walk with my dog Willow, followed by breakfast and photo session editing. Then I head into the mountains, where I have the privilege of capturing unforgettable moments for the amazing couples I work with.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Destiny!
I’m a photographer with a deep passion for storytelling especially when it comes to your love. My style blends moody lighting with authentic emotion, creating images that feel both timeless and true.
I specialize in weddings, elopements, engagements, maternity, and family sessions. What makes my business special is the care and heart I bring to every shoot. Your memories matter to me just as much as they matter to you.
My love for photography began in kindergarten with a Hannah Montana camera (yes really!). That early passion turned into a lifelong dream, leading me to pursue a commercial degree in product photography. That training taught me how to master light and approach every session with creativity and intention. As I step into my second year full time I could truly not be more excited!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My mom shaped me into how I see myself. She has been my best friend, greatest support and is always pushing me to do my best.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Every time I feel defeated I remember how proud my younger self would be that I have made it this far into my dreams. I think I would tell my younger self to be gentle and kind and to allow growth.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! My entire buisness is surrounded by who I am as a person, which is why I love working for myself. Being able to be 100% me is extremely important. It also gives me the chance to get to know my clients on a deeper level and also attracts the people I want to work with.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I had 10 years left I think I would spend less time on my phone/ computer and more time outdoors and traveling. I think it speaks for itself but being a photographer is more about being on social media and editing than actually taking photos. I am always having to remind myself to take a break.
