We’re looking forward to introducing you to Emily Romero. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Emily, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Long solo hikes in the forest have a psychedelic effect on me. After a few miles… deep into the trees… alone with Mother Nature… I re-discover parts of myself. Almost every time. I experience immense clarity, aha moments, profound connection and some of my absolute BEST business ideas.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve been a trauma therapist for a long time. But now, spend the majority of my time, as an author, speaker, and teacher of The Self-Trust Model™. I began my career as a therapist in 2010 and founded my private practice, Curiosity Rising, in 2019. With a passion for holistic and integrative approaches, I specialized in working with complex trauma and anxiety through the lens of somatics, parts work, and psychedelic therapy.
I created The Self-Trust Model™ to empower women to overcome self-doubt, overthinking, and insecurity so they can feel confident chasing their big dreams. I now leads training and certification programs for those wanting to apply the model to their practices.
I’m also the host of The Self-Trust Podcast and the author of two books, including my newest release: You Can Trust Yourself.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I call this part of me… The “Lone Wolf” Part. 🐺
I used to operate in the world as if I had to do EVERYTHING alone. I was the only one that had my back and the only one I could truly rely on. My business reflected that. Never trusting anyone to do…. anything.
I’ve learned how limiting this is in life. My husband has taught me that. My dearest friendships have taught me that. Life has taught me that. Over and over again, I’ve had to embody the learning that us humans, are PACK ANIMALS. Life is better when I let people in. Business is better with collaboration. It’s been a long journey of learning. One I’m still learning.
But it shows up in my work with Self-Trust. The intention of fostering more Self-Trust isn’t to become a lone wolf, only trusting yourself. Much deeper than than, it’s about learning to trust yourself… to trust others.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
When I made the decision to follow my intuitive hit… and close down my therapy practice. I knew I needed to create space in my business for writing, speaking, group work, and all the other ways I felt called to share The Self-Trust Model™, but it was really SCARY to close down a successful therapy practice… that I loved.
But that’s how I’ve learned intuition works. It doesn’t just lead you down easy and familiar paths. It often asks you to venture down the scary, but right, path. The expansive path.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I haven’t “proved” it yet by clinical trials standards. But I believe that Self-Trust is the golden skeleton key to the life you most want to live.
Building more trust with yourself is the path to living the life you desire… with true and genuine confidence.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Traveling.
But also… I’m actively growing a human inside me. And after the LONG and twisty journey it took me to get to the realization that I DO want to become a mother — I’m quite certain I won’t regret this path.
