Isabelle, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m most proud of building is something that no one really sees: the legacy I’ve created for my children. That has always been my “why” from the very beginning.
Nothing about my journey has been easy. I didn’t have anything handed to me or much help along the way, and I’ve carried the full weight of supporting my family for many years. But through every struggle, I’ve stayed focused on building something lasting with values, strength, and resilience that my children could carry into their own lives.
Now that they’re adults, the moments that mean the most are when they come to me with gratitude or share how something I taught them has helped them grow. Those moments remind me that all the hard work, sacrifice, and grit have been worth it. That, to me, is my greatest accomplishment, a legacy built quietly, with love and perseverance.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Isabelle Kline, owner of Isabelle Kline Design, a boutique wedding planning and design firm that’s been creating unforgettable celebrations for over 20 years. What truly sets my work apart is that it’s not just about designing beautiful weddings — it’s about creating moments that my clients and their loved ones will remember forever.
This industry has taught me so much about resilience, creativity, and the power of connection. I’ve built my business from the ground up, and every event reminds me why I love what I do. There’s nothing quite like seeing the pure happiness and gratitude on my clients’ faces after one of the most meaningful days of their lives. It’s truly priceless.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding internationally, bringing the magic of destination weddings to life around the world. I love helping couples celebrate in extraordinary places where their families and friends can come together for a full wedding weekend or week of shared experiences. These journeys create deeper bonds and memories that go far beyond the wedding day itself.
Every celebration is a reflection of my clients’ story, and my greatest joy is helping them tell it beautifully, wherever it may be in the world.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a quiet, shy, and scared little girl. I grew up in an abusive home and was emancipated at 16 on my own ever since. Those early years left me believing I wasn’t enough.
But through every challenge, I found strength I didn’t know I had. Building my business and pouring myself into design became my way of healing, proving that I could create beauty from pain. The awards, the opportunities to teach, and the gratitude from my clients have reminded me that I’ve grown, that I’ve earned my place, and that I can give myself grace.
Today, I’m proud to not only create unforgettable experiences for my clients but also to serve as a mentor and leader in my industry. I’m learning to share my story more openly, not for sympathy, but to remind others that even when life begins in darkness, you can still build something full of light, purpose, and beauty.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It taught me to stay humble, be grateful, and live each day as if it could be my last. To make a difference where I can and truly enjoy the present moment. Life can change in an instant, and that’s why my anchor has always been my family.
In my darkest moments, it was gratitude that carried me through. Even when things felt unbearable, I reminded myself that everything is temporary and that somewhere in the world, someone was enduring even greater pain. That perspective helped me find strength and hope when I needed it most.
The most important lesson of all was this: I refused to let my darkest hours become an excuse. Instead, I let them become my motivation, that I could turn pain into purpose, and that even in struggle, there is room for grace, growth, and light. Always light. Even my home has all the windows and most of it no curtains to allow light to always shine through.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I’ve met people who speak of living by strong values, faith, or kindness, yet their actions tell a very different story. Some call themselves deeply spiritual or devoted, but I’ve seen them act with cruelty, take what isn’t theirs, or treat others as if they don’t matter. That’s hard for me to watch, because I believe faith, love, and integrity should be reflected in how we show up for others, not just in what we say.
For me, being true means being honest, kind, and aware that we’re all sharing this world together. None of us is perfect. We all stumble, but what matters is how we choose to rise, how we treat others, and how we carry our hearts through it all.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in nature, grounded outside, breathing in the fresh air, listening to the waves, or watching a beautiful sunrise or sunset. There’s something about those moments that reminds me how small we are in this big, beautiful world, and yet how connected everything truly is.
But above all, I feel the deepest peace when I’m with my family. They are my everything, my grounding force, and my greatest joy. Whether we’re sharing a simple moment or a special holiday in each other’s presence, that’s when my heart feels calm, full, and completely at home, and that can be anywhere in the world.
