An Inspired Chat with Jared Rolf of Fort Collins, Colorado

We recently had the chance to connect with Jared Rolf and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Jared, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yeah, I’ve learned patience can be its own kind of action. There’s power in holding back, letting things unfold, and realizing not everything needs an instant reaction.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jared, a piercer at Covenant Tattoo in Fort Collins. I started piercing because I love how something so small can completely change the way someone feels about themselves. At Covenant, we focus on creating a space that’s clean, safe, and welcoming but also full of personality. It’s not just about the jewelry or the needle, it’s about the experience. Right now, we’re working on expanding our reach and showing people that body art can be both meaningful and fun.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed I wasn’t creative enough or bold enough to do something different. Turns out, I just needed time and the right space to grow into who I really am.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
For sure. There were days I felt burnt out and wondered if it was worth it. But something always pulled me back, seeing someone light up after a piercing or hearing how a piece of body art made them feel more themselves. That reminder kept me in it.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie is that this industry has to be wrapped in ego and mystery to be respected. Piercing and tattooing doesn’t need to feel like some exclusive secret club to have value. Good work speaks for itself. You can take it seriously, keep the quality, and still make it approachable and fun. It doesn’t have to be intimidating or pretentious to mean something.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I made them feel comfortable in their own skin and that I made them laugh. I want them to remember the moments that stuck with them whether it was through a piercing a conversation or just the energy I brought. I hope the story is that I cared about people treated them with respect and left something lasting whether it was jewelry in their skin a memory in their mind or just a really good laugh.
