We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lenina Olivas . Check out our conversation below.
Lenina, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Why I Love Dancing Ballroom and Swing
There’s something magical about ballroom and swing dancing that goes beyond just movement — it’s a conversation between two people without words. Every dance tells a story. Ballroom invites grace, connection, and trust, while swing bursts with joy, laughter, and spontaneity.
I love how dancing makes me feel completely present. The music, the rhythm, the partnership — everything else fades away. Whether it’s the elegance of a waltz, the playful energy of a swing, or the passion of a tango, each step brings out a different side of who I am. Plus, after 25 years of marriage, to the same man, it has brought back that spark. My husband and I go dancing at least twice a month and sometimes up to 6 times a month.
Ballroom and swing have also given me a community — people who share the same joy of movement and music. It’s not just about steps or technique; it’s about connection, confidence, and celebration. Every time I dance, I’m reminded that joy lives in motion, and love lives in rhythm.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Lenina Olivas, proud owner and founder of Classical Beauty Spa in beautiful Loveland, Colorado. My passion for skincare began more than 15 years ago when I experienced my first professional facial and discovered just how transformative intentional touch and expert care could be — not only for the skin, but for the spirit.
At Classical Beauty Spa, we specialize in Skincare health, Oncology Esthetics and Oncology Yoga, providing a safe, compassionate space where clients can relax, heal, and reconnect with themselves. My approach blends science, touch, and mindfulness — combining advanced skincare techniques with a nurturing, holistic philosophy.
What makes Classical Beauty Spa unique is the heart behind everything we do. Every treatment is personalized to support not just beauty, but well-being — whether it’s through gentle oncology facials, restorative yoga practices, or education on caring for your skin through all of life’s changes.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding community education around wellness, self-care, and mindful beauty, empowering clients to feel confident and cared for at every stage of their journey.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
What I’m Releasing
I’m releasing the part of me that forgets I matter too — the version that gives endlessly without pausing to refill. I’m letting go of the pattern of serving from an empty cup, of mistaking self-sacrifice for love or purpose.
I’ve learned that true care, whether for others or myself, must come from a place of wholeness. Boundaries are not walls; they are the gentle lines that keep compassion sustainable. By honoring my own needs, I create space to show up with authenticity, energy, and heart — the way I was meant to.
This season, I’m embracing balance. I’m remembering that rest is sacred, and self-care is not selfish — it’s essential.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Defining Wounds, Transformative Healing
The defining wounds of my life have shaped not just who I am, but how I show up for others.
Breast cancer taught me what it truly means to listen to my body — to honor its limits, its resilience, and its quiet wisdom. It showed me that healing is not a straight line; it’s a dance between strength and surrender.
Cystic acne once left me hiding from mirrors, feeling unworthy of the beauty I now help others see in themselves. That journey taught me empathy — the kind that comes from knowing what it feels like to struggle in your own skin. It led me to skincare not as vanity, but as a form of healing, confidence, and self-love.
And the color of my skin— something that was once a source of insecurity — has become one of my greatest sources of pride. I’ve learned to stand in my own light, to see my skin as a reflection of my story, my heritage, and my strength.
Each wound has become a teacher, guiding me toward compassion, purpose, and authenticity. They’ve helped me create spaces — in my spa, my yoga practice, and my life — where others can feel seen, safe, and celebrated in their own journeys of healing.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The Biggest Lies My Industry Tells Itself
The beauty and wellness industry often tells stories that sound inspiring — but underneath, some of them cause deep harm.
One of the biggest lies is that aging is something to fix. We’re constantly told to fight it, erase it, or hide it, as if growing older isn’t a privilege. True beauty isn’t found in turning back time — it’s in honoring the life, wisdom, and stories written into our skin.
Another lie is that the color of your skin determines your worth or your beauty. For too long, the industry has centered narrow standards that leave so many unseen. Real beauty has no single shade — it’s found in diversity, authenticity, and confidence that radiates from within.
And finally, we’re told that being unhealthy thin is the same as being well. Yes, it’s wonderful to fit into a six 4 but it’s more important to have healthy bone, skin, and muscular structure. But wellness isn’t about shrinking ourselves; it’s about nourishing ourselves — body, mind, and spirit.
I believe our industry is ready for a shift — one that celebrates individuality, health, and genuine care over perfection. It’s time we stop selling fear and start cultivating self-respect, self-love, and whole-body wellness.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I Understand Deeply
I understand something most people don’t — what it’s like to survive breast cancer and to live in a body that has carried both scars and strength. Cancer taught me the fragility of life, but also the incredible resilience of the human spirit. It showed me that beauty isn’t found in perfection, but in perseverance — in the courage to keep showing up even when you’re afraid.
I also know the pain of cystic acne — the kind that doesn’t just hurt your skin, but your confidence, your self-worth, your reflection in the mirror. That experience taught me empathy in ways no textbook ever could. It’s why I approach skincare not as vanity, but as healing — a chance to help someone feel safe, seen, and beautiful again.
Both journeys have taught me that healing is not about erasing what we’ve been through — it’s about embracing every part of it. I’ve learned that our scars, visible or not, are proof that we’ve survived, grown, and found strength where we once felt broken.
