Lisa Foster shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Lisa, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I strongly believe in starting each day off on the right foot. Every morning when I wake up, I brew a fresh pot of coffee because I absolutely love the aroma that fills my home. After that, I slip into a quiet room and spend 10 to 20 minutes meditating with a guided meditation. Once I finish meditating, I grab my coffee and journal for a few minutes about the things that have gone well, what I’m grateful for, and what I’m excited about, all while sipping my coffee and watching the sunrise out the window.
After journaling, I take a morning walk with my dog. I find it nice to ease into the morning and stretch my body and mind for the day. It’s the perfect way to prepare myself for the day ahead.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Lisa Foster, the founder of Mapleton Craniosacral Therapy, located in Louisville, Colorado. I specialize in CranioSacral Therapy (CST), a light‑touch, hands‑on approach that supports the central nervous system. As a Certified Upledger Institute CranioSacral Therapist and a licensed physical therapist since 1995, I blend decades of clinical experience with a calm, attentive approach. This helps my clients’ bodies unwind, rebalance, and begin their own self-healing processes.
At Mapleton Craniosacral Therapy, I offer individualized care for clients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. My areas of focus include headaches and migraines, TMJ dysfunction, stress and anxiety, post-concussion support, pediatric issues such as latch or sleep difficulties, and overall wellness. I strive to help those seeking relief, resilience, and a deeper sense of well-being.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I’ve always needed to see things to believe them. When I began studying Craniosacral Therapy, I was initially skeptical. This gentle manual technique, which is no more pressure than the weight of a nickel, how could it possibly help someone in their healing journey. However, in my very first training session, as I placed my hands on my client, I felt so much more than what was visible. It was the first time I realized there is much more to us than what we can see.
As I progressed in my training, I learned to trust what I was feeling, which led to trusting myself and my intuition without second-guessing. As my mentor once told me, “The body doesn’t lie.” Over the years of practice, I found this to be true. As my clients improved in their health, they often confirmed what I was feeling. I learned to trust myself and recognized that there is so much more than meets the eye.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would remind myself that there is more than one path to success. We often get caught up in societal pressures and the stresses of life, adhering to definitions of how we are expected to live. When we feel we are not meeting society’s expectations, we may think we are failing. But who created these expectations? Who wrote the checklist of standards that we feel we must adhere to? Not me!
It’s all too easy to find ourselves caught in a loop, thinking we need to have a 9-5 job, earn a specific income, or meet other arbitrary milestones. But do we really? I would tell myself to embrace exploration and understand that success is not a straight path. It is filled with turns and bumps, and those detours will teach valuable lessons and build resilience. I would encourage myself to stay curious and to remember that it is never too late to start anew. Each day the sun rises brings a new beginning.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! What you see is what you get. I present myself as my true, authentic self, whether I’m at home, at work, or with friends. I am caring, thoughtful, curious, and an avid learner. I genuinely love to inspire and encourage others to prioritize their mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Four years ago, I even started a podcast called “Real Life Momz” to motivate parents to put themselves at the top of their to-do list. It’s important to me that people take care of themselves because when we prioritize our own well-being, we can shine even brighter for the world.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
When you can go to work and feel happy, fulfilled, and energized by what you do, you are working in alignment with your true self. That’s exactly how I feel about my job. I go to work because I genuinely want to. From the supportive and warm atmosphere of my office to the clients who walk through my door, and the incredible manual therapy techniques I am honored to use in treatment, I love every aspect of it!
However, it took hard work, dedication, practice, and soul-searching to discover what truly aligns with me and what I need to feel fulfilled. Finding this alignment can take time and may require several attempts, but once you find it, you know it’s meant to be.
