We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nicole Elliott. Check out our conversation below.
Nicole, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
As a mother of 4 daughters, it’s hard to quantify the years of training and praying and loving and caring for these little humans that God has entrusted me with. But in my humble attempts I will say that I am most proud of the years I have been able to raise my girls. A daily effort to build strong, wise, independent, confident young women that are sure of who they are and who they are not. Every single attempt to train them up right, whether I thought I was failing or wining, has built them up to be the beautiful little ladies they are today. Of that I am the most proud.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the co-founder of Core Identity – a Brand, Web Design & Marketing company. Along with my business partner, Mim Jordano, we help new entrepreneurs become confident, purpose-driven brand leaders, with a clear identity, that are equipped with the tools to make a meaningful impact in their market.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
I am a fourth-generation Mompreneur.
Entrepreneurship runs deep in my family—my mother was an incredible businesswoman, taught by her mother, who was taught by hers. It’s an extraordinary legacy I’m honored to carry forward.
My mom’s story began in the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador, where she grew up in a small village—swinging from vines into rivers and using banana leaves as umbrellas. At 20, she came to visit her cousin in New York City, stepping into an entirely new world. There, in a Bronx church, she met my dad. They fell in love, married, and built a life together, despite having very little.
But business was in her bones. With faith and grit, she took an old school bus, gutted it, painted it blue, and began selling unique Ecuadorian goods across New York City. That simple idea became Faby’s Enterprises, which she grew and nurtured for over four decades.
Her resilience shaped me. I grew up watching her provide for our family with strength and creativity, yet she was always present and nurturing. She taught me that entrepreneurship isn’t just about building businesses—it’s about building lives, legacies, and opportunities out of whatever you have.
Now, as a mother of four girls, I’m deeply grateful to pass that same spirit on to them:
Take what you have, no matter how small, and make it your greatest gift to the world.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
“I remember saying to myself when I was a teenager, “I don’t have what it takes to be a good mom.” I am pretty selfish, have little patience, get frustrated way too easily and have a hard time being nurturing. So many things stood against my ability to be a good mom.
So when I felt like God was inviting me to homeschool my 4 girls, I thought “Are you crazy? Do you know who I am?” There was no way that I would be able to educate my kids. I was a terrible student myself and did not have the skills, on any level, to teach them.
So many times through the years I wanted to give up. But I put one foot in front of the other and at times, it just felt like I was falling forward….but my foot was always there to catch me. Then I would fall forward again, the other foot, there to catch me. I never fell. I just kept relying on an innate force within me that never let me fall.
It took a lot of Faith and Grit to now stand at this place. 11 years later. This year 1 daughter graduated Highschool with honors and 30 college credits. My second daughter is on track to graduate high school with her associates. My other two are excelling and doing great!
Every time I wanted to give up, this is the verse that guided me all these years – Galatians 6:9 “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
“If I build it, they will come.”
This is a classic rookie mistake for new entrepreneurs launching a business. Creating a great product or service is only half the battle. Marketing, sales, and building a strong brand are equally, if not more, important. Many new entrepreneurs underestimate the effort and resources required to get the word out and attract customers.
We are the brand strategists that act as the architect of a company’s identity and its relationship with the world. We move beyond the visual elements (like logos and colors) to define the fundamental “who,” “what,” and “why” of a business, which is crucial for long-term success
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Yes! Right now.
Having been on the entrepreneurial journey for two decades, we’ve walked in your shoes and understand the deep struggles that new business owners face. The path is often filled with chaos and uncertainty, and it’s easy to lose your way. That’s precisely why we are so excited to do what we do. We are passionate about being the guides who bring clarity to the chaos and, more importantly, a sense of joy back to the journey – tap dancing along the road to self discovery and entrepreneurial success!
We believe that every business has a unique story waiting to be told. Our mission is to help you discover and define your Core Identity—the very essence of who you are and what you stand for—in a way you couldn’t on your own. We work with you to define your brand element by element, turning what feels like a daunting task into a rewarding process of self-discovery. This isn’t just about building a brand; it’s about building a foundation that will guide your decisions, attract your ideal customers, and sustain your business for years to come.
