Ryan Krol shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Ryan , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I like to ease into my mornings. I usually have a couple cups of coffee and take my time waking up. I also have this rule — I can’t touch my phone until I’ve read at least one chapter of a self-improvement or inspirational book. It’s been a great way to avoid that instant stress or cortisol spike that comes from checking emails right away. Right now, I’m reading Dirtbag Billionaire by David Gelles about Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia — super inspiring and a great way to start the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Ryan Krol, founder of Boundless Endurance Coaching. We help athletes change their lives through the process of training for endurance events — whether that’s an ultra run, a gravel race, or a mountain bike adventure.
What makes Boundless special is that we’re not just about fitness metrics or finish lines — we’re about the journey. We believe the process of setting big goals, showing up day after day, and pushing your possible can completely transform someone’s life.
We’ve built a team of passionate, experienced coaches who truly care about their athletes as people first. We work closely with events like the Leadville Race Series, Unbound Gravel, and UTMB North America, which keeps us right at the heart of the endurance community.
Right now, we’re focused on expanding our impact — growing our coaching team, building partnerships, and continuing to elevate the athlete experience through education, community, and connection.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I’m not sure “powerful” is the right word — maybe empowered fits better. About 15 years ago, I decided to run the 100-mile loop around Mt. Rainier in WA completely self-supported. I drank from streams, had a few close bear encounters, and was even woken up by an owl while sleeping under the stars. There were moments when I was scared and completely out of my element, but finishing that adventure gave me a whole new sense of confidence. It showed me that anything is possible when you keep moving forward — and it definitely sparked my lifelong thirst for adventure.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self that it’s all going to work out — and that no matter how you were raised or what circumstances you start from, you always have the power to change your path. Take the risk, trust yourself, and lean into the unknown. That’s where the best parts of life — and growth — happen.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The health and fitness industry is full of noise — miracle supplements, quick-fix programs, the next gadget that’s supposedly going to change everything. But the truth is, nothing replaces consistency and hard work.
That’s one of the reasons I love the 100-mile ultramarathon distance, especially the Leadville Trail 100 RUN. There’s no faking it out there. You either put in the work and have the mental fortitude to see it through — or you don’t. It’s the purest reminder that real results come from commitment, not shortcuts.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I gave them the confidence to do something they once thought was impossible — something a little crazy, a little outside their comfort zone. Sometimes all it takes is someone believing in you before you believe in yourself. If I can be that spark for people — to take the leap, sign up, show up, or just keep going — that’s the legacy I’d want to leave behind.
