Sierra Anderson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Sierra, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I think it’s a little bit of both. There’s a path—I have a sense of direction, the kind of work and life I want to create—but I leave plenty of room for wandering, too. Some of the best ideas, connections, and images I’ve made came from following curiosity instead of a map. So I suppose I’m walking a path with open hands, letting myself meander when the light feels good or something beautiful catches my eye.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Sierra, and I photograph spaces and stories with an eye for the little details that make them feel alive. I’ve always believed beauty is found in the quiet corners—the way light falls across a room, or the way a moment lingers. My work is about honoring those details so others can see and feel them too.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that always felt I had to prove myself. I’m learning to release that striving and trust that the work, the care, and the way I see the world are enough. Letting go of that weight makes more space for joy and curiosity to lead the way.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell her she doesn’t have to hold it all together to be worthy. Softness is strength, and the way she notices beauty in small things will become her gift. And maybe—don’t worry so much about getting it all right. Some of the sweetest parts of life will come from the detours (oh, and take more photos—you’ll thank yourself later)
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say I care deeply about connection—the way people feel seen, how beauty can root us in a moment, and the importance of small details. They’d laugh too, because I’ll stop mid-conversation to admire how the sun hits a wall or even rearrange a table just so. Always, though, with the hope of making moments feel a little more beautiful while capturing their truth.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in quiet moments of stillness—walking under soft light, noticing the way shadows fall, the gentle hum of life around me. When I slow down enough to really see, listen, and breathe, everything else fades and I just… exist.
