Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Martinez.
Hi Aaron, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started making music at a young age. I was influenced by artists like Eminem, Ace hood, Lloyd banks and more. I’ve studied rap and all the rappers who blessed the mic before me. I made a lot of songs using a tablet for the beat and a phone to record. I made my hit song “Only The Strong Survive” in the basement of my house after my grandma passed in 2012. Then made “Real Ones” in 2013 after my stepdad passed. In 2014, I went to the job corps for a couple of months and learned a bit. When I got back, I kept making music the way I knew how. This would go on for a long time. I’ve lived in a little blue room for years that was infested with mold. Worked nine to five’s living pay check to pay check, had to take the bus and walk everywhere before. And dropped out a thousand times. Everything bad that you can imagine has happened to me. Don’t get me wrong a lot of good has happened too, like my people and the memories.
Since 2017 it’s basically been do or die, I’ve been fighting to survive. In 2019, I had to change as a person, focus on me and shift my energy to things that wanted instead of wasting it. Putting all my energy towards my music. I started getting a lot more jobs and working long hours, eventually earning my own studio. Since then, A lot of my close people have passed and I haven’t got quite where I want to, but I have made a good amount of progress. Right now, I have six songs out on all platforms. I’m working on dropping the other ten and having the album completely done soon. All my life, I struggled with finding a career or trade. It’s been staring me right in the face; I just couldn’t realize it. I want to be who I am today, a musician/recording artist. What I thought was a dream is finally a reality and it’s only up from here. I wanted to give special thanks to all my family and friends that helped me. So, thank you to my wife Christina Casados for everything, especially the recommendation.
Also, for always keeping us stocked with the internet and being one of my biggest supporters. You and my brother Andrew Cisneros (Drewxmoney) are why I’m here today. My cousin Joe Quintana (Saint Joe) for helping set up, hooking me up with his connects, and helping me put my music out. My family friend/cousin Ashely Casados. one of the best graphic Disingers who supported and did my Album cover and YouTube logo. Wavy Wayne for teaching me about pro tools and how to record myself. Dj Kush for the mixing and light master. Big thank you!!! To YouTube, DistroKid, iMovie, and Voyage Denver!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Poverty, people, traumatic experiences, myself, negative energy and thinking, hesitation, and excuses.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Denver artist who specializes in Rap and Hip Hop music. I’m known for my hit song Only The Strong Survive that’s featured on my upcoming album Low illusions. I’m most proud of myself for putting my music out and doing what I had to do to get where I’m at today. No matter how hard I had to suffer and struggle. I stuck to it and saw the vision even when nobody believed. What set’s me apart is my ear for music and my ability to make music wherever I go, no matter the circumstance. Also, my spirit, my heart. My goal was to make a living doing what I love to do making music, traveling, helping people, and reconnecting with them spreading love and happiness.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
God. because he made me and my family and made everything I’m doing today possible. He showed me unconditional love through my family and friends and the world. Even when I wanted to give up, he wouldn’t let me and kept me strong. My people also mean the most to me. Because they brightened my life, gave me beautiful memories, and took care of me physically and emotionally.
