Check Out Adriana Luevano-Del Angel’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Luevano-Del Angel

Hi Adriana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey is divided into two chapters: the first in Mexico and the second in the United States.
I was born and raised in Puebla, Mexico, a city rich in history and tradition. From a young age, I was a creative, passionate, and somewhat introverted child, yet incredibly curious about life. Immersed in the arts through dance and piano, I always believed my future would be in something related to them. But life had different plans.
At 18, almost by chance, I discovered the world of sales. I didn’t seek it out it found me. What started as an unexpected job quickly became a passion. I fell in love with the process: connecting with people, presenting ideas, and closing deals. It was a personal challenge, something that energized me. But it wasn’t as simple as it might seem. I faced many obstacles, from breaking the news to my parents that I wouldn’t be going to college to dealing with the judgment and skepticism of friends and my community. In Mexico, being a salesperson is often not seen as a serious profession.
As the years passed, my initial worries evolved into deeper questions about my future. With time, I gained the clarity and maturity to make a conscious decision not out of obligation but conviction to pursue higher education. I chose Marketing, feeling that it was the perfect intersection of my two strengths: my passion for sales and my innate creativity.
After finishing my degree, my thirst for learning didn’t stop. I specialized in social media, and unexpectedly, I also became fascinated by the fashion industry. While I had always been intrigued by self expression through image, I never considered studying it. These two new interests allowed me to expand my work, now with a greater understanding of the potential behind digital campaigns and creative productions. Years later, I realized I had been a creative all along.
In my final year in Mexico, my husband and I launched a business together. It was my first time building something on a large scale. Working independently had always been a challenge, but starting a company was an entirely new level. I believed my expertise in marketing and sales would be enough, and while it certainly helped, I quickly learned that running a business required much more.
A year ago, my life took another unexpected turn. I moved to the United States after marrying a U.S. citizen something I had never planned or even imagined.
Navigating my personal and professional life as an immigrant has been one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced. A new language, a new culture, and an entirely new way of life. But one thing I’ve learned from sales is that if I have to start from zero, I will. No matter how long it takes or how hard it gets if I need to begin again, I will.
And here I am now, as a Creative and TV Producer at Univision Colorado, bringing together all the things I once thought were separate creativity, strategy, and my passion for connecting with people.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth, and I’ve faced several challenges throughout my career. One of the first was dedicating myself fully to sales in an environment where the profession wasn’t respected. Breaking free from the belief that my job defined my worth as a person was both a personal and emotional challenge. But I learned that, even if the path was difficult, staying true to my passions would bring a level of fulfillment far beyond external validation.
Later, transitioning from freelancer to entrepreneur was another unexpected challenge. I thought my marketing and sales skills would be enough to build a profitable business, but I quickly realized there was much more to it finance, administration, legal aspects, and the complexity of running a company with a partner. That experience taught me that success isn’t just about talent but about adaptability and continuous learning.
But without a doubt, the biggest challenge has been starting over in a new country. When my husband and I decided to move to the United States, I thought I was prepared, but the reality was completely different. A new climate, a new culture, a different language… The change felt less like a transition and more like losing a part of myself. Everything I had built before was suddenly gone, and I had to reconstruct my life from scratch.
Without a job, contacts, or professional references in the country, I had to be intentional about creating opportunities. While waiting for my work visa, I decided to volunteer in marketing for Shen Yun, a performance I had admired for years in Mexico. As the only Spanish speaker on the team, I saw an opportunity to introduce it to the Latino community. Through that process, I made a key connection with Univision. Just three months after arriving, I unexpectedly had my first live TV experience.
That moment was a turning point. Maintaining that relationship, along with the fashion content I started creating and my previous experience in Mexico, led me to apply for the only available position at Univision: Sales Assistant. I was confident my profile was a perfect fit, but the interview took an unexpected turn:
“Adriana, you have a creative profile. There’s an opening in Creative Services as a TV Producer that aligns much better with your experience.”
I couldn’t believe it. They offered me a position I had never imagined, yet somehow, I felt I had been preparing for it all along. It wasn’t just about the result it was the culmination of 10 years of trial and error, learning, persistence, and resilience.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Throughout my journey, I’ve fallen in love with different industries and learned that our profession doesn’t define us completely. We grow up believing that our degree or current job determines who we are, but the truth is, we are multifaceted beings, with passions and skills that intertwine in unexpected ways. I truly believe that no experience is ever wasted everything we learn will find its purpose at the right time.
Today, I work as a Creative and TV Producer for Univision, where I develop commercial concepts, write scripts, and oversee production. I’m involved in the entire process, from the initial idea to the final product on air. My role allows me to merge my diverse passions and apply everything I’ve learned from sales and marketing to social media and fashion.
The achievements I value most are not just professional milestones but the personal growth they’ve brought me. I thrive on challenges and the transformation that comes with them. But if I had to highlight some defining moments, I would mention the time I ranked in the global top 10 in sales for a period of time or, more recently, the thrill of seeing one of my commercials air on national television.
Every step in my journey has been a key piece in getting me to where I am today, and what excites me the most is knowing there’s still so much more to create and discover.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Be clear about your values and convictions, and always move in that direction. No matter what you do, people will have opinions good or bad. That’s why the most important thing is to stay true to yourself. At the end of the day, what truly matters isn’t what others think, but the satisfaction of knowing you are building a path that is authentic and aligned with who you are. For me, that foundation is built on Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, values that guide not only my career but my entire life.
