Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Love

Hi Alexis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story starts in a little city in Missouri, St.Louis. This is where I was born and raised in the suburbs. I was always creative as a child and I remember my mom always telling me I was great with my hands and very creative. My candle journey starts in a small attic in the city of Vinita Park, Missouri. This is where my family lived shortly before relocating to beautiful Denver, CO. I remember being down on my luck, a little stressed, and not much energy for anything. I received a call one day from someone special to me, telling me they had a gift for me for my past birthday. I remember going over and opening the gift, it was a large red candle, scented like a tropical oasis. The candle immediately put a smile on my face and uplifted my spirits, but it wasn’t until I lit this candle the true effect of it came to light. It was something about this plain red candle, that completely uplifted my spirits and took me out of a funk. I was no longer feeling down, depressed, or stressed. In fact I felt uplifted, inspired, and energetic! Once I realized it was the scent and color that uplifted me, I wanted everyone willing to give it a try to experience what I had just experienced. I wanted to uplift others with my candles and their surroundings. Which is where Loves Candle Closet Ltd was born. I took all my savings and put it towards teaching myself how to make candles and buying the material to start my candle business. In the middle of this process my husband and I decided to relocate our family (4 daughters) to Denver, CO on our 5 yr. wedding anniversary in 2019. Once settled in Denver, CO we opened Loves Candle Closet Ltd in 2021.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road for us, moving to a city where you know no one or have any family can be challenging, but we are up for the challenge. Building our customer base one customer at a time. Finding funding options for a small business can be challenging as well, personally funding our business can be a challenge at times but definitely pays off through our loyal customer base. Making connections with local entrepreneurs and mentors in the community is very important to small business, but can be an obstacle when your new to the community.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been a Certified Nurse Assistant for over 14 yrs, very compassionate about helping and uplifting others. I currently work part- time in the nursing field to fund Loves Candle Closet Ltd.

Loves Candle Closet specializes in all natural, decorative candles, wax melts, & gifts. We do not create plain candles, everything is created with a theme to uplift the customer and their surroundings. When customers see our candles in person they are immediately impressed with our skill and product, with 5 star ratings across the board.

We are most proud of our decision to relocate our family to Denver, CO and embark on a new journey of starting our life and business in a new city and state.

Loves Candle Closet cares about the individual receiving our product, we want our candles to immediately take effect once in the hands of the customer. Each design is well thought out and intentionally made to uplift and inspire. Loves Candle Closet Ltd cares about the community as well, and thrives on helping others, which is why we donate a % of each candle order to help the community. This is what sets us apart.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson we have learned along this journey, is that things will get hard, but faith is needed. With faith anything is possible. You never know who needs uplifting and who is inspired by you, so keep working in your purpose.
