Check Out Allison Jemeson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Jemeson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It was an interesting journey getting here! After leaving my nearly decade-long OR nursing career craving artistic expression, I found myself working at a mom-and-pop flower shop. I immediately knew I would end up focused on weddings at some point, but I wasn’t sure how or when to make that happen.

When Covid-19 lockdown caused me to leave that job, I saw an opportunity to start my own business. It was a little sooner than I had originally planned, but with so much downtime and zero expectations, I felt like I had nothing to lose. I am so grateful that I began my entrepreneurial flower journey when I did and that I get to live out my true purpose.

Being a wedding florist has far exceeded all of my wildest, flowery dreams!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sure, all amazing things worth having come with their share of struggles, large and small. Covid has definitely posed its fair share of challenges- everything from drastic and unexpected floral pricing fluctuations to common flowers becoming unavailable, to cancellations and postponements of weddings, and everything in between. But overall, I have really enjoyed the journey so far, and I don’t expect that to end any time soon.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am now solely focused on full-service weddings. I guess you could say I’m known for artful, textural, and whimsical designs that are inspired by nature. I honestly don’t know what I’m most proud of, because I am proud of every single piece that leaves my studio.

My policy is, If I don’t personally LOVE it, then it’s not finished yet. I am really just astounded and proud that I am where I am right now, and I’m very grateful. What sets me apart from others? I really put a lot of time and effort into getting to know and understand my couples on a deeper level. I believe that every time I design wedding flowers, I am being given a beautiful and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to express a unique love story.

Please don’t ask me to make something cookie-cutter; that’s not at all what I’m about. I want to know the quirky and fun details that make each couple shine. My goal is to capture the essence and personality of each love and express it to the fullest, using the incredible blooms gifted to us from the earth.

How do you think about luck?
Truthfully, I don’t really believe in “luck” in the traditional sense of the word. A lot of people would probably look at my story and think that I really came across a whole lot of good luck, but it was not an easy path getting here. I am consistently and deliberately putting in the time, effort, intention, and energy in order to create this experience for myself and my clients. Working with flowers in some capacity is a dream I’ve had since I could barely walk, so you could say it’s been in the making for quite a while… I just got a bit distracted along the way.
