Today we’d like to introduce you to Allyson Kelchiln.

Allyson, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started as a makeup artist by chance, always doing makeup for friends and family members. Eventually, I recognized the opportunity that was in front of me and decided to take my passion up a notch and get formal training. I started practicing airbrush makeup and attended many classes to enhance my skills. Once I felt comfortable, I started networking and advertising my services. I love special events and weddings, and it turned out to be a great market for me to do what I love and live a balanced lifestyle.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been smooth sailing for me. Working as an independent artist definitely creates some hurdles such as marketing my services, managing bookings and finances, etc… but I truly enjoy what I do and find the hard work and long days very rewarding.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a makeup artist, I have found my niche is working with mainly bridal parties. I love the look and finish of airbrush makeup and so do brides…and their photographers! My application is very much neutral glam. I want brides to feel like the best version of themselves. I love making people look and feel beautiful, nothing can top a client tearing up and giving you a hug because they are so happy with the work you have done. Trusting a near stranger to understand and execute your vision can be very scary. I love having the opportunity to win over my clients and make them feel comfortable and confident.

Any big plans?
I am continuing to go for training and education so I can be a top choice among Makeup Artists in Colorado. I would love to coordinate a network of wedding vendors to help promote each other’s businesses and a strong network of professionals that are also friends.
