Check Out Armando Villegas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Armando Villegas.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
NuLif3 started as a way to escape — not run away, but break free. I’ve always believed music should have no limits, and that became my mission.

I came up as a DJ and music producer obsessed with tech house, bass house, and psychedelic sounds. While most local DJs were just mixing other people’s tracks, I was building my own — layering heavy drums, bouncy bass lines, and dark psychedelic textures that felt like exploring somewhere you’ve never been.

2025 hit me hard. I was in an accident, lost my dog Zoey, and watched some close relationships fall apart. Instead of shutting down, I put all of it into the music. That pain turned into some of my most honest work — including a track called Zoey.

Today I have 22 released tracks, about 1,500 monthly streams, and I’m performing and teaching production out of Ableton. NuLif3 isn’t just a DJ project — it’s a brand built on real experience, original sound, and the idea that the best music comes from going somewhere most people are afraid to go.

We’re still early. But we’re building something real.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
2025 was the hardest year. I was in an accident that took me out physically and mentally. I lost my dog Zoey, who meant everything to me. Close relationships fell apart. All of it hit at once, and there were real moments where I questioned whether to keep going.

On the business side, I started with zero clients, zero bookings, and a social media presence that wasn’t converting into anything real. I was putting in 8 hours a day in the studio, releasing music, doing everything right — and still making $150 a month. That gap between effort and results is its own kind of grind.

The other struggle nobody talks about is being a solo operator. No team, no collaborators pushing you forward daily. Every decision — creative, business, technical — falls on you. It’s freeing and exhausting at the same time.

But the struggles shaped the sound. The darkness, the psychedelic edge, the emotional weight in the music — that’s not manufactured. That’s real life processed through speakers.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My sound is built around heavy drums, bouncy bass lines, psychedelic effects, and a twist of darkness. I use tools like Little Echo Boy, Alter Boy Junior, and K Clip to craft something that feels exploratory — like you’re going somewhere you’ve never been. “Music without limits” isn’t just a tagline, it’s the actual creative philosophy behind every track.

I’ve released 22 original tracks on Spotify and other platforms, pulling around 1,500 streams a month. About 20% of every live set is original productions — something most DJs at my level can’t say.

Beyond performing, I teach music production through Ableton-focused lessons — covering side chain compression, clipping workflows, mixing, mastering, and full track creation. I built the same skills I’m teaching from the ground up, which means the instruction is practical, not theoretical.

What I’m most proud of is that I kept creating through one of the hardest years of my life. The music didn’t stop — it got better. That resilience shows up in the work.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Live experience is also going in a more immersive direction. Crowds want more than someone behind a booth pressing play. Festivals and clubs are already investing heavily in production, visuals, and themed environments. I see psychedelic and dark aesthetic sets becoming a bigger draw as audiences chase experiences that feel transformative, not just entertaining.
