Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey Click.
Hi Aubrey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey in the beauty industry began when I enrolled in school with the goal of becoming a lash artist. After graduating, I started my career at Glamour Lounge, where I gained hands-on experience and quickly fell in love with not just the artistry, but also the connections I was able to build with clients and other professionals.
When the opportunity came to purchase Glamour Lounge, I knew it was the right step to take my vision further. I rebranded it into GL Beauty Collective, a space designed to bring together talented artists from multiple specialties, from lashes and skincare to tattoos and permanent jewelry. My goal has always been to create a collaborative, inspiring environment that feels welcoming to clients and empowering for the artists who work here.
Most recently, I partnered with Hunter Wright to launch GL Beauty Academy, where we now offer hands-on, individualized training to the next generation of lash and beauty professionals. This next chapter allows us to raise industry standards and help students leave with the skills, confidence, and business knowledge they need to thrive.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped who I am today as a business owner. My journey started with having to attend two different esthetics schools because the first one unexpectedly shut down halfway through. That created a multitude of obstacles, from delayed timelines to extra expenses, but I had the perfect support system encouraging me to keep pushing forward.
Landing my first job in esthetics was a turning point, not just professionally but personally, because it’s where I met one of my best friends, who to this day has been such a big part of my journey. When she made the decision to move states, she entrusted me with the business she had worked so hard to build, something that was both an incredible honor and a huge responsibility.
Owning a business for the first time came with far more stress than I could have imagined, but it has also brought me so much joy and purpose. Most recently, I partnered with my right-hand lady to open GL Beauty Academy. It’s been more work than I ever anticipated, but seeing it come to life has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.
Right now, I feel like it’s only up from here, but with the understanding that there will always be speed bumps along the way. What I’ve learned is that every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and I’m ready for whatever comes next.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a licensed esthetician, lash artist, and owner of GL Beauty Collective, a creative beauty space that brings together multiple artists and specialties under one roof. My work focuses on giving clients not just beautiful results but an elevated and welcoming experience that makes them feel seen and valued.
I specialize in lash extensions and feel very strongly about not just creating a beautiful look but also protecting my clients’ long-term lash health. Education is an important part of what I do, and I love teaching clients how to care for their lashes so they can safely wear extensions for years to come.
As my career has grown, I have transitioned from being solely an artist to becoming a mentor and leader, building a space where other beauty professionals can thrive and co-founding GL Beauty Academy to train future lash artists.
What I am most proud of is taking a business I once worked for and growing it into a thriving collective that supports both clients and artists. What sets me apart is my focus on both artistry and relationships. I am dedicated to truly knowing and caring for my clients and creating lasting connections so they feel supported inside and outside the beauty chair. Who knows, maybe we’ll become besties!
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
If I were to be completely honest, the most important lesson I have learned is to take care of my mental health first. I have learned that you cannot show up fully for others if you are barely holding yourself together, and it is not selfish to take the time you need to feel grounded and balanced.
This journey has also taught me how important it is to be mindful of the people I allow into my circle. Surrounding myself with people who are honest, supportive, and respectful has made all the difference. Even if they show their respect and care in different ways, knowing that those relationships are real and mutual gives me the strength to keep going through the hard moments.
These lessons have reminded me that personal well-being is the foundation for everything else. My business, my relationships, and my creativity all thrive when I do.
