Check Out Audrey Krebs’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Krebs.

Audrey Krebs
Hi Audrey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

In July 1996, I started  working with the Fergus Falls Veterans Home in MN. My position was Volunteer Coordinator.  The home was a hole in the ground when I was first hired and I was the only employee for one year. My position was to raise money and awareness of the home that was being built. We needed support from the Veteran organizations. I loved my job!

The territory I covered was from St. Cloud MN to the Canadian border. I gave presentations to a variety of Veteran organizations as well as city councils and community organizations. We raised over $250,000.00 in gifts and in-kind that first year, even before the home was open. Once the home opened I continued to raise money and volunteers to provide the residents of the Veterans home with the best nursing home possible. I loved my job!

After 6.5 years as the Volunteer Coordinator/Development Director I moved on. My next stop was the Veterans Home at Fitzsimons in Denver, CO. I was hired in June 2002 as Director of Community Relations. It was wonderful.  Again, I was hired when the home was in construction and my position was to raise awareness of its coming as well as raise money.

November 2003, I transferred to Aging Services through the CO Department of Human Services. I worked with the Area Agencies on Aging throughout the state. I served as the Administrator of the Senior Community Service Employment Program and as a program specialist for the State aging programs.  After about 14 years in that position, I left the state to work within the senior living industry.

November 2016 as a Certified Senior Advisor as well as a Certified Assisted Living Administrator I was hired to work as an assistant Executive Director for a senior community from there I served in various capacities throughout the senior living industry.

In 2021, I created Aging Services Consultants, LLC (ASC). I loved working directly with older adults and that’s why I started ASC. I had the expertise, the education, and the compassion so I knew I could make a difference. It’s been a wonderful journey and I hope to continue to assist those that need help. Whether it’s working as a Care Manager with individuals or helping people find the right type of living environment as they age, we are here to help!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a growth process. As the owner of Aging Services Consultants, I have had a variety of experiences in the field of aging. I’m using my experience and education to assist older adults as they continue to age and may need a little extra help.

The struggle is trying to help individuals and family members before their needs become critical.

Many people wait until it becomes critical and people need care right now! If people knew that the sooner they got assistance their life would be so much easier. They could or would be able to maximize their independence as well as their health and opportunities for enjoying life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, as the owner/operator of Aging Services Consultants, LLC. I work as a care manager and a referral placement specialist. As a care manager, I help people with whatever it is they may need, such as medication management making sure that if they have more than one doctor the doctors are aware of the different medications each as prescribed.

As a care manager, I may take clients to the doctors, dentist, or audiology appointments and I am the second set of ears for the client. I also assist clients with their long-term care insurance making sure they get the compensation they have coming to them. As a referral placement specialist, I will conduct a geriatric assessment to ensure I assist my clients in finding a new living environment that meets their social, emotional, and physical needs.

The field of aging services is growing by leaps and bounds. What sets ASC apart from the rest of the organizations is my experience. Working in the field of aging services for over 25 years and being a Certified Senior Advisor for almost 10 years. I have experience in almost all of the different fields in aging.  One other program that sets us apart is Get Along Gadgets.

When I was with the state, I created Get Along Gadgets while serving on the Board of Directors for Assistive Technology Partners. Currently as a partner with Colorado University Denver we provide devices to older adults helping them to stay independent and thrive. I don’t believe that many consultants have the experience, education, or passion that I have working with older adults. I know that there isn’t anyone else who has Get Along Gadgets.

What keeps me going and is extremely satisfying is helping an individual improve the quality of their life and even saving a life. If you read my Google reviews I believe that they say it all.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
People may refer an older adult who needs help to Aging Services Consultants for assistance. We provide a free initial consultation.

I collaborate with several organizations and refer clients to those organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association,  the Parkinson’s Association as well as individuals who may have more expertise when working with specific diseases.
