Today we’d like to introduce you to August Eslick.
Hi August, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I initiated my business venture while residing in Michigan, driven by a passion for fashion, nature, and graphic design. As my interest in clothing evolved, I sought to create a distinct brand with an emphasis on eco-conscious practices. Upon relocating to Colorado, I carefully researched eco-friendly wholesale options and discovered the high-quality materials offered by a local warehouse, Original Favorites. Committed to sustainability, I integrated their products into my business, ensuring certification for eco-friendliness, recyclability, and premium cotton. In the field of graphic design, my self-taught abilities led me to embrace skills, such as learning embroidery. “The Auggie Project” became a signature embroidered element across my products, complemented by eco-friendly details like hemp business cards and biodegradable packaging mailers.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the course of this journey, I’ve embraced a significant learning curve, navigating the complexities of small business operations, from material sourcing to acquiring new skills, networking, and marketing. Currently, I handle all aspects independently. The primary challenge involved breaking free from a lack mindset and overcoming the fear of debt. But, I’ve successfully conquered these fears, pushing myself to pursue my aspirations and contribute positively to both my personal growth and the well-being of others.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In an effort to embrace my creative side, I currently hold two part-time positions, primarily within the food industry. Alongside this, I’m committed to my small business, focusing on expanding my clothing brand. Stepping out of my comfort zone to pursue my dreams is a source of great pride for me. I believe that my eco-friendly clothing brand sets me apart. Unlike many who source products from sweatshops with limited awareness of the production process, I prioritize understanding the origins and processing of my products. This commitment distinguishes my brand from others in the market.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
My genuine passion and active social media presence have resonated with people, accumulating support for my products, and there’s a noticeable anticipation for purchases. People are actively involved with my social media pages, and I’ve received interest in collaborations. Currently, I’m awaiting the arrival of a few materials to fully launch my business.
