Check Out Bethany Roberts’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Roberts.

Hi Bethany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was 16 My best friend’s mom was a yoga instructor. She would hold classes in her home and we would sit at the top of the stairs and practice with the adults. She would even let us come join some time. if there was space At 16 I didn’t know it, but there was something special happening each time I practiced. Fast forward 20 years and I was finally able to be certified to teach yoga. I always knew it was something that I wanted to do but timing was never right. Yoga has lead me to some unbelievable opportunities including my passions of Sound Healing and Conscious Connected Breathwork.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t smooth at first, I saved up so many times to try and study in India but life kept getting in the way. My car would break down, I’d have a bad month at work and I’d have to use the savings to pay bills. Then I ment my husband and step son and that part of my dream was getting pushed further away. When Covid hit, our whole life shifted and that’s when the oppertunity to do yoga teacher training here in Denver came back up.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Sound and Breath have been my new journey. After Covid it seems like everyone is just fried. Running on all cylinders at all times. I started to dive into the nervous system and lean as much as I about what we are wired the way we are. I went to a sound bath and I had never felt so relaxed.

When I’m hosting a sound bath my first thought is “how is someone going to feel when they walk in this room?” What is going to make them most comfortable. I decided I needed to make sure that the body felt safe the second someone comes into my space.

I started hosting all of my sound baths on air mattress. It allows the body to be completely supported and comfortable so practitioners are able to fully drop in and let the sound do what is supposed to do.

What matters most to you? Why?
I want everyone to walk into a session wth me, yoga sound or breath, and leave feeling supported and just a little bit calmer than they did when they walked. in. We have so much input all the time from media, family, home and we are all running a million miles every moment. I think it’s so important for people to understand it’s okay to slow down. I the hustle culture we live in, burn out is praised. I want people to understand that rest is just as (if not more) important for a whole and fufilling life.
