Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The journey to Creative Islander started as Island Touch Gifts & Baskets a gifting company. Though we are still in the gifting company, the way we choose to represent gifting has changed.
We started mainly with island-themed skin care products because we wanted to share not only the health benefits of treating our body but also to create an island experience when our products are used. Now we have expanded on invoking an experience through the entire gifting process because a gift is essentially an experience shared between the giver and recipient.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growing to where we are today has not been an easy road. We’ve had the pleasure of owning a storefront for which last two years with the hope of growing our target audience and though we did grow to some extent, not enough to keep the store. The gifting field is a competitive market and standing out has been a challenge on its own. However, we are determined to remain steadfast in the growing process.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What we do, is transform the definition of the gifting experience through creating a unique and personal experience through the gifting process. We currently specialize in Balloon Decor/Gifts with Backdrop Rentals; Picnic Escapes for Dates & Celebrations, Suite Celebrations; Corporate and Personal Gift Boxes & Baskets, and our hand-crafted Self and Health Care products.
We were initially known for our handcrafted skincare products, however as we grew, our Stuffed Balloons became popular. I am most proud of the persistence we’ve maintained in this business journey and the ability not to lose focus on why we started. What sets us apart is the idea of someone creating and receiving an experience through a recreation of what defines a gift!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
COVID-19 solidified our mission to create an experience through gifting.
