Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Nash.
Hi Carly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I have been singing my entire life. I started in choir at school and being the cantor at my hometown parish. This led to a love of singing, performing, and classical music. Over the years, I have gained a diverse background in music. I have been involved in Choir, Musical Theatre, and Opera, and have had the honor of going on three European Tours as a member of children’s and professional choirs.
I will also be going on my final European Tour with the New American Voices Choir in the Summer of 2024. Being involved in the performing arts in my college years, I found that it was my passion and that it was what I was my purpose to make my mark on it. My parents decided to gift me a guitar one year for Christmas and I taught myself how to play.
In January of 2020, I started playing a weekly gig on the Stillwater Strip. Stillwater, Oklahoma is the birthplace of Red Dirt Music. I was a music industry major at Oklahoma State University where I was taught music production, music publishing, and a lot about live entertainment. My major and the clubs I was involved in led me to perform at a local brewery and my classmates taught me how to get into songwriting.
Since then, the rest has been history. I’ve had amazing opportunities playing all over Oklahoma and Texas and performing with so many other amazing artists. I’ve been able to release original music and have so many big plans for my music in 2024… I cannot wait!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When dedicating your life to achieving your dreams.. it is never a smooth ride. Most of my struggles have just been personal such as self-doubt and not feeling good enough at times.
I remind myself that those feelings are clouded by societal expectations. The only goals and expectations to live up to are my own. If I can beat that, I will accomplish everything I’ve dreamed of and more.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m known for my voice. Being a singer/songwriter, people tell me they are blown away by my powerhouse vocals. I have a powerful voice and it stands out in a crowd. I sing and write music simply because I love it.
Most proud of? It’s not a specific thing or moment. I’m most proud of myself. I have finally made it to my chapter in life where I am working to accomplish my life goal. I’m not just dreaming about them. I’m here and I’m in it. I’ve never shared what my dream in life is for fear of failure. Everything’s out there now and I’m living my goals and dreams. It takes bravery, determination and so much more to live out your dreams. I can say that’s what I’m doing and that’s what I’m most proud of.
What sets me apart? If you know me personally, I’m a very unique person. I think it’s my wild spontaneity and how I am unapologetically myself in everything I do. I show that in my clothing, my personality, and even my songwriting. I do things my way and try to be as different as possible.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
Working with someone or collaborating with them can be as simple as sharing a post. Spread the word, share the artist’s work, and show up for them!
I also love modeling!! I love doing photoshoots and promoting boutiques and clothing brands!! It’s a side hobby of mine.
