Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Chacon
Hi Cassie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always done my nails growing up. When we went on a field trip in middle school, to Warren tech. I had learned there was a nail tech program and had fallen in love with it. I now have been doing nails for 13 years. It’s crazy! I was at a nail studio for most of my career and then one day I decided I didn’t want to work there anymore. Asked my friend if I should share her studio. She said yes, and I have had my own studio now for 2 years.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say the hardest part about having your own business, is really marketing yourself. I hate putting myself out there. It gives me so much anxiety. But I know if I don’t do it, then I won’t get new clients. So I try to constantly reply when I see people asking for new nails techs, and I’m constantly posting on social media.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a natural nail tech. Which means I focus on the health of the natural nail. I only offer gel polish, structured gel manicures, gel x extensions and pedicures. When removing gel, I don’t use the drill and file it completely off. I file the too cost off and wrap it with acetone and foil and let it soak. Then I’ll use an orange wood stick and lightly push the gel off going the opposite way the nail grows. I also take pride in how I clean I am. I never reuse the files or buffers I use. Even from your hands, to your toes! I either give them to you to take home, or just trash them. They are too porous to properly clean and disinfect. Per state we are supposed to clean all metal tools with soap, and water, then they have to soak in a hospital grade disinfectant for ten mins. I take that a step further and use an autoclave. All my tools are completely cleaned and sterilized.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
To my clients I seem so out going and talkative. But in reality I’m so shy! I hate going to new places by myself because I’m so shy. I always take friends with me so I at least have someone to talk to talk with and experience it with. Even when I’m around my family I’m still shy. I barely want to talk to them! But when I’m with clients, I can talk all day long! Unless of course they want a silent appointment.
