Check Out Conor O’Hagan’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Conor O’Hagan.

Hi Conor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I founded Lure Catering two years ago, sparked by an unexpected moment of frustration. I was attending a wedding where the dinner was, frankly, forgettable—and I couldn’t stop wondering why exceptional food seemed so rare at catered events. With nearly a decade of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry, I knew I had the skills and passion to do better. That night, I decided to prove that catered food could be as exciting, personal, and delicious as dining in a fine restaurant.

The first year was a grind. I took on every event that came my way, focused on quality, and built the business one satisfied guest at a time. The response was overwhelmingly positive. By our second year, Lure had become known for its signature charcuterie spreads and large-scale corporate events—including a 250-guest opening for Upton Residences on Broadway in downtown Denver.

As the business grew, so did our offerings. I began hosting interactive cooking classes, blending professional technique with an intimate, social dining experience. Each class features a coursed meal, wine pairings, and hands-on demonstrations designed to inspire confidence and creativity in the kitchen.

Today, Lure Catering continues to thrive. Our growth has been fueled by an unwavering commitment to great food, thoughtful presentation, and genuine relationships with our clients. Looking ahead, we’re excited to keep expanding our craft—and to solidify Lure as one of Denver’s premier boutique catering experiences.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our reception has been incredible so far, but one of the biggest challenges has definitely been managing our growth and keeping up with the demand. In the beginning, I’ll admit I tended to overextend myself—trying to do everything on a tight budget and refusing to compromise on quality. But as the events got larger and expectations grew, I realized I needed help.

So I reached out to other talented professionals in the restaurant industry—people who shared the same passion for food and attention to detail. Bringing them on allowed me to step back a little and focus on the bigger picture: making sure every dish that leaves our kitchen reflects the level of excellence that defines Lure.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think what truly sets us apart from other caterers is our personal approach. We take the time to meet and get to know our clients, learn everything we can about their event space, and then design a menu that’s tailored specifically to them. Every event is different, and we want each one to feel intentional and unique. Our goal is always to make sure our clients get exactly what they envision—delivered in the best and most thoughtful way possible.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I’ve attended several networking groups, including Referral Partners Denver in downtown Denver. I’m also a member of the Golden Chamber of Commerce and am finalizing my membership with the West Metro Chamber. I’ve found that most of my success comes from personally connecting with people—whether through networking or simply talking with guests at my events. Once someone tries my food, they often become a future client.
