Check Out Cyndi Marlowe’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyndi Marlowe.

Hi Cyndi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came to Steamboat Springs in 1979 . Ohio born and raised, a brand new interior design degree, I was so excited to venture west of the Mississippi for the first time. My life forever changed upon sight of the Rocky Mountains and my arrival in Steamboat Springs was love at first sight.
I was fortunate to be hired by a local interior design firm at a time when Steamboat was in the early stages of growth. Bought a ski pass, a mountain bike, good hiking boots and of course a new camera. I took rolls of film to the local Photo House, weekly.
Today 45 years later my photography graces the walls of private homes, hotels, and commercial buildings In Steamboat Springs. Several retail stores carry prints and canvases, cards and my beautiful photo book that was designed by my talented graphic artist son, Matt LeGrice.
I am so grateful to be able to share the beauty of Steamboat Springs.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a smooth road. It was all the right timing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do landscape photography and highlight iconic Steamboat images. I have lived in Steamboat for 45 years and have saved the majority of my work. I’m able to reference the “now and then ‘growth in our town.

I’m most proud of the the large canvas work featured in local hotels and public buildings. I feel I’ve contributed to the beauty and history of this area.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I have taken some business risks. I’ve over- inventoried, partnered in retail and decorated with my art for little or no compensation all for the sake of marketing. I was experimenting at the edge of the internet and online exposure. Now I have a balance, maximizing longevity and experience and a higher quality of my work.
