Check Out Daniel Bryant Jr.’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Bryant Jr.

Hi Daniel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Hey there friends! My name is Daniel Bryant most people know me behind the camera as CXORN (corn). I’m a music and life photographer based out of CA. My photography started in about 2015 when I got my hands on a little point-and-shoot camera! Ever since then my love for the art has kept growing and growing. Growing up I was someone who would deal with mental illness. I found photography to be my escape, a way I could tell a story. As an art practice was key, the years 2016-2018 were the years I would look back and say that’s what has helped me figure out who Cxorn was and what led me to love capturing live music and music in general, you never know what you can create by the end of the show. I wouldn’t lie and say also tried shooting all types of photos but when it came to capturing moments not planned, that’s what I found to put a smile on my face. CXORN is something that came to my mind when playing an online game while on bed rest with an injury, honestly was just eating corn when it came to mind. Finding meaning behind what it meant to me was when you see the “x” it stands out and when it comes to being human, I’ve always wanted to stand out and not be normal and that came with being a photographer too. Currently touring with bands and capturing moments in cities and states all around was lucky enough to travel with an amazing band called Iya Terra. Thank you for this interview opportunity, Voyage!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I found a lot of the struggles to be with getting myself out there as a photographer/ visual artist. Where I’m from we have an amazing photography community, but I would always keep in my mind how can my work stand out from this city or in general any photographer you see

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
When it comes to how I label myself as a music photographer but have a love for shooting moments in general. I would have to say some of my proudest moments while having a camera in my hands are having the opportunity to see so many new places and meet a lot of amazing people… Two highlights that come off the top of my head have to be from this recent tour. We had a show to play in the city of Sacramento and casually just meet the legend of the UFC Nate Diaz. Getting to have a conversation with him and at the end able to capture a portrait of him, once I saw the image out of the camera it was a feeling of ” a camera has got me this far ” and the whole night I had the biggest smile on my face meeting a lot of people since touring I’ve had the chance to hear stories and one that made me love what I do even more is having someone say the images that they have seen via show post has motivated to get their camera out and shoot again when being set apart from others I would like to say when shooting a show, I work with whatever lights the venue has set up since I never use flash with that opportunity, I have a lot of creative advantages and try to bring the images to life and show what it was like to be at that show

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Growing as a human. Finding this out starting from my teen years I always thought I would be in the position where I’m always going to be in a dark hole with my mental illness. It’s not easy to push to grow but every day is a new day and a new opportunity
