Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Landt
Hi Desiree, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in the great state of Montana, accomplished athlete in bowling and golf. A very good student, earning honor roll accolades and being on top of my class consistently. My world changed when my parents separated when I was 15 years old, essentially leaving me behind. I had newfound freedom and started drinking and making terrible choices about this same time. Not having anyone in my family paying attention to me, I became an alcoholic. Shortly after high school, I lived in my 1987 Volkswagen GTI in the brutal winter in Montana. I worked at and lost jobs, I was a financial disaster. I moved across country, trying to do better, but continued to find that everywhere I went, there I was. I eventually ended up in Denver, CO. This is where I got sober on November 10, 2002. I have been able to create a beautiful life because of this one decision. I recently celebrated 22 years of sobriety. Making positive impacts on my peers and the community at large.
I started working for a home warranty company, serving the communities of Northern Colorado in 2004. I fell in love with Northern Colorado and moved to Loveland in 2005. I built a very good network of real estate agents, and real estate affiliates that I achieved great success. I had my daughter in early 2006. As a single mom, life was hard, but like always, I was able to dig in and make success happen. I did this work for 13 years and I loved it. By 2011, I was mom of two, a beautiful son and daughter and accepted most things as they came, making the best of everything that came my way. I became aware of the fact that while my job was helping me support my family, it wasn’t quite filling my heart or challenging me in the ways I desired. I just knew I was meant to do more!
In the summer of 2016, I wanted more in my life through work. With the blessing of my employer, I founded A Better Day Cleaning, a housecleaning business out of my garage with a vision of providing top-quality, reliable cleaning services to the community. Driven by a passion for helping others and an eye for detail, I have grown this business from a one-woman operation into a trusted team dedicated to making homes shine.
I am deeply committed to my family, my employees, and the communities we serve. I make a commitment every day to create a positive, supportive work environment for my team and believes in giving back whenever possible. My housecleaning business isn’t just about cleaning—it’s about creating a little more peace and comfort in our clients’ lives, creating livable wages for my team members, one sparkling home at a time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was not given the opportunity to go to college. I have had to figure everything out as I go. Being a single mom of two, changing my life through sobriety, and being a business owner have all had their challenges. I would say that the hardest thing I’ve ever done is build a successful, profitable business. The learning curve or rather balance between taking care of my employees and my clients while also taking care of myself has been the top of the list of struggles. Learning how to be a business owner, setting proper boundaries for clients and employees has been one of the most tedious of tasks.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
A better life begins with A Better Day. My team and I specialize in helping families enjoy their lives a little more, adding time back to their schedule through having a clean and peaceful space. We’re known for building relationships with our clients, offering attention to detail and our commitment to treating each client’s home as if it were our own, which I think brings an extra level of trust and warmth to what we do.
What really sets us apart is the care we put into each clean and the personal connections we build. Our clients know they can trust us to not only get the job done but to go the extra mile. We’re not just cleaning homes; we’re creating a little extra peace and comfort in people’s lives, and I think that makes all the difference.
We also are honored to partner with two non profit organizations providing cleaning services to cancer patients.
Any big plans?
I plan on continuing to be a beam of light (or a Desiree’ of sunshine) into the lives of everyone I come in contact with. My goal is to positively impact those around me and leave no one worse off for seeing me that day! I am going to continue building my business and possible expand into serving more geographic locations.
