Check Out Don Mims’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Don Mims.

Hi Don, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in 1994. I had a decent upbringing. I was raised by a village (family) that made sure I knew God, respect, integrity, principles, and morals since a young age. My dad ended up getting killed when I was 3 years old and my mom went to prison and was sentenced to 10 years when I was 9. I’ve always been a fan of music, but I began to take it serious right after my mom went to prison. I started writing lyrics alot. As years went by, in 2010, at the age of 15, I released my first mixtape titled, “Nothin But Heat Vol.1”, I later released another mixtape within a few months in that same year 20 days after getting shot in the leg. In a 8-10 year span, I released 8 out of 12 LPs and over 20 music videos.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road wasn’t smooth at all. I can say there was many struggles. Especially in the beginning. A lot of it had to do with finances and a lack of resources, but with determination, my will to do the research, and putting in the foot work, I managed to make things happen.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a man of God first. Then a father, a rap artist, engineer, photographer, videographer, handy man and etc. I specialized in all of those things I just named. I’m proud of the way my life turned out after all of the obstacles I’ve been through. What sets me apart from others is that I’m determined. I’m willing to go above and beyond to get any task done that’s set in front of me.

What are your plans for the future?
I have many plans. I’m looking forward to building a huge empire. Opening businesses and bringing opportunities for my children and other children.
