Today we’d like to introduce you to Ema & Jade.

Hi Ema & Jade, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We started our podcast Lashing Out & Nailing Life because we saw a gap. No one was talking honestly about what it’s really like to balance building a beauty business and figuring out life in your 20s and beyond. Both of us were already working in the industry and constantly having real, unfiltered conversations behind the scenes, so we decided to put a mic in front of them.

It began with the idea of sharing the lessons we were learning in real time: navigating clients, setting boundaries, making mistakes, chasing goals, and still trying to show up for ourselves outside of work. Over time, we realized how many other women related to the same struggles and breakthroughs. That’s what brought us here! We are building a space for connection, growth, and community through candid conversation.

We’re still figuring it out, but we’re doing it out loud, one episode at a time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a podcast while running our own businesses came with a big learning curve — from finding time to record between clients to figuring out editing, branding, and how to market something from the ground up. There were moments we felt overwhelmed, unsure if people were even listening, and questioned if it was worth the extra energy.

One of the biggest struggles has been balancing consistency with grace, allowing ourselves to take breaks when needed without feeling like we’re falling behind. We’ve had to learn how to work through self-doubt, scheduling conflicts, and the pressure to be perfect online. But every time we hear someone say an episode made them feel seen or less alone, it reminds us exactly why we started.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our podcast Lashing Out & Nailing Life is all about creating real, relatable conversations around balancing business and life as women in the beauty industry. We talk about the things most people aren’t saying out loud—setting boundaries with clients, navigating burnout, dealing with comparison, and figuring out what success actually looks like when you’re doing it on your own terms.

We’re most proud of the community we’re building. It’s still growing, but the messages from listeners who say “I needed to hear this” or “This made me feel seen” mean everything to us. What sets us apart is that we’re not trying to be experts. We’re learning and growing right alongside our audience. We show up as we are, keep it honest, and blend humor, heart, and hustle in every episode.
