Check Out Emma Maschka’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Maschka.

Hi Emma, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
As a young girl, I watched my father bake holiday pies, birthday cakes and so much more, inspiring me to do the same. When I was starting junior high I realized I wanted to turn my passion into a career.

I started small, only selling some baked goods at my middle school, but I kept working hard to diversify my clientele.

I am now finishing up my degrees in Baking & Pastry Arts and Hospitality Management at Colorado Mesa University, and the business I dreamed of as a little girl is starting to become a reality.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been plenty of obstacles I needed to face to get to where I am, and I’m certain there will be many more.

The two biggest obstacles I have faced are my age and clientele. As a young woman not everyone takes me seriously as a capable chef and businesswoman, but I work to not only prove them wrong but to be proficient enough that my work speaks for itself.

In addition, I had no clientele to start selling to as I was starting this business from scratch. I taught myself how to market and reach people through social media to grow my following and clientele.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the owner and founder of my bakery, The Moonlight Serenade, currently an online-based business. I specialize in baked goods, specifically individual desserts and decorated cakes.

The dessert I am most known for is my cake pops, a recipe I have been working to master for about five years. I stress the importance of balance in my cake pops, not too sweet, and not too overly flavored (it is a cake after all). I want people to enjoy every bite and with that comes plenty of practice.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I am extremely thankful for the support I have received. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for that support, especially from people like my parents, chef mentors, friends, and my boyfriend. I am excited for the next chapter of my career and the opportunities I’ll get to use the talents God gave me.

Thank you for the opportunity to do this interview!
