Check Out Eric Krause’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Krause.

Hi Eric, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
For as long as I can remember building things out of wood has been a fun hobby, building as many odds and ends as I could. After marrying my wife and leaving college we realized we wanted to have “adult” furniture and art for our home. The only problem was we didn’t have the money for any of it, so I went to work in the garage slowly learning more about my hobby to provide these needs for our home.

Quickly, “Could you build something like that for me?”, was the question I was hearing from all of my friends. As time went on I realized I could turn my hobby into a fun job that allows me to be creative and build all sorts of new things for others. I have drifted from furniture and now focus mostly on art, but I’m still constantly building new furniture for anyone who asks.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the greatest challenges I have faced with my business have been due to the slowdown of the economy over the last year or so. It is still requiring me to think in new ways about how to get my art to more customers.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My passion is to bring new life to old wood that would otherwise be thrown out. I specialize in building art out of reclaimed wood, specifically mountain depictions. I believe the thing that sets my work apart from other people who are doing similar work is the quality of the wood that I have access to and the amazing beauty in its coloration.
