Check Out Solar Flare Sunset’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Solar Flare Sunset.

Hi Solar Flare Sunset, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We initially got together in 2016 in Iowa. We were a 4 piece and put out an album, Solar Flare Sunset, in 2017. Over the next two years, we played in Iowa and Illinois and recorded our 2nd album, The Eyes of Argus, shortly before moving to Denver as a 3-piece.

COVID and a departure of our original bassist put our live performances on hold, but we managed to record our 3rd album, Patchwork Fantasy and released it in 2021.

Now we are fully stocked with a new bassist, a new attitude, and some killer songs to play any and everywhere.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We started out as high school friends, Ethan ( lead guitar, vocals), Isaiah (guitar), and Cole (bass, keyboards) and met Raul (drums) in Iowa. We are all still friends even though Isaiah dipped out after the 1st album.

The toughest part has been COVID and Cole leaving right after everything else opening up.

It was a punch in the gut to be able to play for something totally out of our control then to lose our brother.

It’s remarkably difficult to find a musician who vibes with the music, is cool and is committed. And we found August this year and are fully prepared to hit the ground running

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a hard rock band, mixing catchy, soaring melodies, with cool and technical rock music. In the same vein of the Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin and Metallica (among many others).

We are proud of our latest release, Patchwork Fantasy. It is us at our peak musically, melodically, and lyrically.

We are playing rock music, which isn’t as “in” now, for whatever that’s worth. In that, we really aspire to be technically proficient. We grew up loving Zeppelin and Rush, that stuff kills and shows off their instrumental prowess. Those are things we aspire toward.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Writing great songs and people listening to then consistently.
