Today we’d like to introduce you to Frankie Jones
Hi Frankie , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey is one that I never could have imagined, especially for someone who began with a severe stutter and mutism. As a child, it seemed unlikely that I would ever speak for a living, become a business owner or have the chance to travel the country using my voice to teach and encourage others. But at a young age, I had to make a choice. I could either stay on the path I was on, or I could dream of something greater.
I chose to dream, even though it seemed impossible at the time. It felt like everything was working against me, and the miracle I was hoping for seemed so far out of reach. Yet somehow, by God’s grace, I found myself standing on stages that I never thought I would, sharing my story and helping others face their own challenges.
Everything in my life has been part of that miracle. I’ve been able to create a clothing line (Pri3sthood Clothing) that’s designed to inspire others, and I’ve had the privilege to speak to audiences, not to only highlight my journey, but to show that miracles really do happen. I’ve even had the opportunity to be part of films on Netflix and other media, which is something I never thought possible.
On top of that, I founded KingLife Basketball Academy, which gives young people a space to grow and find community. And the church I built (Upper Room Christian Fellowship). It’s a place where others can come and experience what I did all those years ago—a place where transformation is possible, no matter where you’re starting from. I’m just grateful for the journey, and for the opportunities to serve and inspire others along the way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Any type of speech impediment is horrible not only physically but also emotionally and mentally. It gave birth to so much of my early depression in my life which in turn inspired horrible decisions of quitting or just accepting less than great for myself. If we are not careful, depression can assassinate dreams and hopes. Self doubt can become a personal coach of failure and a negative mindset a prison that walks around with us. I didn’t have much support from family, didn’t’ have many real friends in my early years. I was bullied as a kid, this made it hard for me to trust anyone. Financially I ran into road block after road block because of the lack of resources it took to get dreams to fly. So I began with nothing, I used hand me down ground work of others or what was thrown out from others places to build my mental blueprints.. It takes vision to hold trash, but in your mind to see gold. When I was homeless I would play make-believe with where I was. I’d pretend the city mission I lived in was a grand hotel and I was being served by my personal staff. See, isolation taught me many things, some good and some horrible. My isolation made me a visionary, because I would spend so much time with just myself dreaming and watching others one day waiting for a chance to live not what I saw with my eyes, but what I could see in my mind.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
This question always feels loaded for me. I suppose I’m probably known for my energetic/engaging speaking engagements. I’m a pastor, a motivational speaker, a poet, an actor, personal coach and a business owner. Some ask, why do you do so many things? I once heard that we only get to live this life once. That being the case, I choose to live. I’m probably most proud of how many people my life or businesses have inspired to find their own path and growth. I’m so blessed when someone can say anything I have done inspired something inside of them. To me, thats one of the coolest things I think any influencer can do.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the melting pot that is Denver. I love the cultures and the differences we all share. I love looking west and seeing the mountains and the brisk air. What I like least is the same line of what I like. I like least the division we have amongst people with differences and view points. The day we realize how powerful our connection is, we will change everything.
