Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrett Merdinger.

Hi Garrett, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My father was a builder so naturally I followed suit. After 12 years of working for developers, builders, designers and everyone in between, I started Carls Contacting. We hold a general contractors license performing remodels & new construction in the Denver Metro area. We love high end interiors and self perform all of own custom millwork in house.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running any business can be difficult. Besides the standard supply chain issues, cash flow, scheduling, and difficulty of finding good help, the biggest struggle is not to burn oneself out. It can be difficult to not constantly think what can be done better.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think our biggest atribute is our ability to problem solve. A good portion of our work is done on the front end before a hammer is lifted and this is imperative to have a job run smoothly. However, things do come up in the field and how you address said issue and pivot to the correct path is essential.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Denver is great. Just the right size for any activity. Each neighborhood has its own distinct charm. Something for everyone. Everyone talks smack on the food scene here but there are tons of great restaurants. They must not know where to go.
