Check Out Gigi Douglas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gigi Douglas.

Hi Gigi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My creative journey definitely began when I was younger and was inspired by my parents who were always trying to give me activities with “no rules” that I could really get lost in. As I got older, small arts and crafts slowly evolved into life-size paper mache monsters and theatrical performances complete with a cast of 10 friends and costume changes. By the time I was an “adult”, I had my eyes on warehouse size murals and multi-acre creative build projects.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, life isn’t always a smooth ride and it truly is the bumps and twists that give you a reason to hold on! I have had many struggles along the way (as we all do) including death in my family, self-doubt, depression, money worries, and everything in between… and I promise you that each of these “struggles” has actually made my art and creative pursuits way more potent than if life was always easy.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is all over the place these days, but includes freelance marketing and event coordination work, art/painting related work (from selling greeting cards to creating murals), environmentally friendly building-related work, and my latest and greatest which is fixing up an old homestead in the San Luis Valley (called New Sky Ranch) in hopes of one-day offering art and permaculture related education and retreats!

I am probably most proud of the many many MANY wonderful people I get to connect and work with thanks to my professional life. People add so much magic to my life and what I am able to contribute to this world!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Very outgoing. A little performer. I wanted to be an actress actually! Also a people pleaser and the one that wanted EVERYONE to be her friend.
