Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Bunn.

Hi Hannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
At an early age, I found myself intrigued by fashion and hair. By high school, I was determined to find a non-toxic hair color line. This is finally becoming a priority in more salons. I have come across so many clients who have been allergic to hair color, as well as seeing no hair health benefit to the hair, with using other color lines. I enrolled in cosmetology school at Warren Tech in Lakewood at age 17. The program was eight hours/five days a week. All my high school courses were done online until I graduated from both in 2005. I then started at my first salon in 2006!

I have worked as both a commission-based and booth rental stylist. I found that booth rental, due to the nature of its independence was what suited me best for 10 years. I enjoyed working in large salon environments, mostly so I could watch other hair artists around me. To learn from others is the greatest gift! I left my last salon home of nine years in 2017 to break out of the traditional salon setting, and into a salon suite! From there, I started to grow and build career confidence. The last 4 years, I have enjoyed every minute of creating my own brand, style, and business. Every year continues to get better and better, with new goals and dreams!

Hair health is my top priority! Aside from following the hair trends, I strive to do them in a non-toxic way! Researching is one of my hobbies and has turned into my mission, my platform, and how I do hair! Being an independent salon suite contractor, creating my own name and space, has given me the freedom to further my education on products and hair color. Every person who comes to see me, even if they have been a long-term client, knows that I will educate them about their hair and give them realistic options of how to make it better.

My kindhearted nature wants hair beauty for all, and my dedication wants my clients to understand the tools to maintain it. Ever since using more natural hair care lines, my work shines and glows with that difference. The way I have designed my salon suite – clean, calming, refreshing, airy, in a natural blend of colors, is a reflection of that. The sense of pride I have in my space, my talent, and the care I give to each individual client, is what makes Éclat!

Éclat means a brilliant effect, style, flair, and confidence.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Taking my first steps into being an LLC was just the peak of my worries! I had no idea where to begin! Becoming a licensed cosmetologist straight out of high school has always been a big part of my struggle. I have always felt that I wasn’t taken seriously given my young age, but I have definitely paid in my dues. I have had to really work on my confidence and self-worth within these past four years on my own. I find that many stylists struggle with that. We are people pleasers! Stylists are artists and as much as it appears to be a hobby, it is also our livelihood.

Location! Location! Location! It’s true, it is that important! I don’t regret any of the stepping stones I have had to jump over to get where I am today. Before landing at Image Studios in Arvada, I was at two other suite concepts prior. Each one gave me the experience, drive, and CONFIDENCE I needed!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Since I was three, the ease of being able to put together a hairstyle to complement an outfit, or which hair color complimented someone’s skin tone/features, came naturally to me. Fashion and decor inspire me daily!

I specialize in lived-in, low maintenance, and dimensional color. I love taking a canvas in front of me and enhancing, rather than working against it. I can finally say I am a color specialist! Not that I won’t always have more to learn, but my creativity and artistry will shine!
