Check Out Imuetinyan Daniel’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Imuetinyan Daniel.

Hi Imuetinyan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Where I come from, interior design was never considered a real profession. It wasn’t taught, it wasn’t celebrated. If you loved arranging spaces or had an eye for aesthetics, it was often dismissed as a phase something you’d outgrow.

But I didn’t outgrow it.

Even as a child, I felt the presence of space. I remember the rug in our living room warm underfoot, rich in layered browns. My parents had paired it with a brown TV unit and a grey velvet sofa. The textures. The tones. The stillness. That room wasn’t just arranged. It was orchestrated. It was where we gathered every night, where the news played, and the air felt like home. That memory became the seed of my design soul.

Years later, I moved to Abuja. A friend encouraged me to try interior design school in Abuja. I went. But at the time, I still doubted if it was truly my path if I could turn this passion into something real. So I left.
But the calling stayed.

I returned to Lagos and trained as a cabin crew. I traveled. I worked. I smiled. But inside, a quieter truth was always present: this isn’t who I am.

In 2015, I surrendered to that inner knowing. I enrolled in an interior design school in Lagos not to be taught taste, but to learn structure, function, and design language. Design isn’t just about vision it’s about problem-solving, human behavior, and storytelling through spaces. It’s about mastering proportion, scale, and mood. I wanted to refine the gift I already carried. Because creativity is a gift, but it needs structure to soar.

Even while studying, I couldn’t wait to begin. I started dreaming of a studio of a name that felt like legacy, like poetry, like royalty. And then it came to me: Camelot.

I remember sitting alone, asking myself: What name holds legacy? What evokes elegance, strength, and timelessness?
Camelot came to me like a vision regal, soulful, unforgettable. I knew immediately: This is it.

Camelot Design was born not just as a studio, but as a sanctuary. A place where interiors are crafted with depth, feeling, and detail.
I didn’t want to simply make beautiful designs I wanted to design spaces that felt like memory. That used layered textures, thoughtful spatial planning, sculptural lighting, and the quiet luxury of natural materials.

I wanted to create interiors where texture, form, material, and lighting worked in quiet harmony.
Spaces that flowed with balance and intentional rhythm. Rooms that told the truth of those who lived in them.
I wanted to design with feeling, not just with function. Places that whispered: “You are safe here.”

Then came my first major project: a commercial resort. I was nervous, but ready. I poured everything into that space from the architectural detailing to the layered lighting plan, from custom joinery to the palette selection. And when it was complete, I stood inside that space and felt peace. It wasn’t just beautiful it was alive.

But design isn’t just about creating sometimes it’s about pivoting.
I began struggling to source the kinds of pieces I envisioned: soulful, refined, timeless. So I created them.
I built partnerships with artisans, manufacturers, curators and global partners to create furniture and décor that embodied the Camelot aesthetic. That’s how CamelotsHome was born. A curated lifestyle brand rooted in elegance, soul, and story.

So I began to build them myself.

CamelotsHome is now home to exclusive furniture collections, custom-designed statement pieces, and curated décor objects all crafted with architectural silhouettes, rich finishes, and a tactile attention to detail. Every item is designed not just to be seen, but to be felt to carry the atmosphere of a room on its back.

And then, life shifted again.

I became a mother and everything changed.

I thought I could do it all. But nothing prepares you for how much that chapter takes from you emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually. From the moment I found out I was expecting to the long nights, the care, the sacrifices it took everything. My business slowed. I lost my showroom. I lost income. I lost momentum. And honestly, I lost a piece of myself.

Motherhood didn’t pause my story. It rewrote it with deeper texture and stronger lines. It taught me how to design from rest, not just ambition.
How to hold both softness and structure.
How to build a legacy not just for clients but for the future I carry in my arms.

But I never lost the dream.

Even in the silence. Even in the exhaustion. I still held on to that little girl who once dreamed of beauty. I still held on to Camelot.

Today, I’m rebuilding not from scratch, but from strength. From experience. From truth. I’m taking everything I’ve learned from failure, from burnout, from motherhood, and turning it into something greater.

Camelot Design and CamelotsHome are no longer just brands.
They are my life’s work.
They are my legacy-in-progress.
They are my offering to every woman who has had to pause, pivot, or begin again.

To the young girl who dreams of creating beauty: don’t stop.
To the mother torn between purpose and parenting: you are not alone.
To the woman starting again: your comeback will be greater than your setback.

This isn’t just about interiors.
It’s about soul.
It’s about becoming.
It’s about beauty that lives beyond aesthetics.

This is Camelot.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. It’s been full of highs and lows, unexpected detours, and long silences. But through it all, I thank God because this journey has shaped me into the woman and creative I am today.

Being a creative is not easy especially when you’re building a business in Nigeria. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is stability. As entrepreneurs, especially those of us funding our own businesses, we deal with constant uncertainty. Today, the dollar rate is high. Tomorrow, it’s different. Sourcing materials, pricing products, staying profitable it feels like a daily battle.

And then there’s the heartbreak of imitation. I remember having my very first showroom something I poured my soul into. Then the store next to me began copying everything I did. Same layout. Same items. Same style. It hurt deeply. But I kept going. Because the truth is, authenticity always wins. People may copy what you do, but they can never copy your heart. Over time, clients always recognize the original voice. And they return to it.

Motherhood has been one of my most beautiful but demanding challenges. It takes everything from you mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually. You’re raising a life, a soul, a future. You’re giving so much of yourself every single day. And sometimes, it feels like there’s nothing left for you or your dreams.

There were days I wanted to quit. Days when the burden felt too heavy. But I always reminded myself: this is my passion. And when you love something, even in the hardest moments, you find the strength to keep going not because you have the energy, but because you have the purpose.

Even when I lost my showroom, I thought it was the end. But it wasn’t. That loss revealed a bigger part of me a bolder, more refined version of my purpose. It pushed me into the digital space, and today, I run Camelot Design and CamelotsHome fully online, serving residential and commercial clients across the country. What felt like a loss became the beginning of a greater expansion.

To every woman reading this to every mother, every creative, every entrepreneur I want you to know: being a mother does not stop your destiny. It refines it. Think of your children. Every decision you make today becomes a part of their foundation tomorrow. Build wisely. Build with love.

And to anyone pursuing entrepreneurship: don’t chase money chase passion. Because money will fail to inspire you when life gets hard. But passion will carry you when nothing else can.

This journey isn’t perfect. But it’s mine. And I’m proud of every step.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an interior designer and the founder of Camelot Design and CamelotsHome, two brands born from the desire to create spaces and pieces that reflect identity, emotion, and excellence.

For me, design goes far beyond aesthetics. I wanted to create a space a business where my clients would see the best version of themselves reflected in the environments I create for them. It’s not just about me. It’s not just about placing beautiful things in a room. It’s about how the space feels to them.

When I work with clients, I don’t start with materials or trends I start with emotion. How do you want to feel when you come home after a long day? What do you want your office to whisper to you the moment you walk in? Whether it’s a home or a workspace, I design with the intention that each space becomes a sanctuary. A place where people regain their sanity. A space that says, “You are safe. You are seen. You belong here.”

That feeling calmness, royalty, warmth, and joy is the heart of every Camelot Design project. Every room should feel like a retreat, an experience, a reminder of who you truly are.

Through CamelotsHome, I bring the same energy into furniture and decor. But again, it’s not just about selling beautiful things. Every piece whether it’s a cushion, a chair, or a vase is intentional. Each one tells a story. I take my time to design and curate items that reflect culture, elegance, and soul.

For example, our custom cushions are filled with the finest materials. They last for years and still feel like new. Our furniture is not just made for the now it’s made to last, to be passed on, to be felt. I’m not in a hurry to sell what everyone else is selling. I create and curate from a place of depth. From a place of purpose.

What sets me apart is my heart, my attention to detail, and my deep desire to make people feel something when they enter a space or pick up a piece. I don’t just design rooms I design experiences. I don’t just sell products I create lasting beauty.

I know that in time, I’ll be creating more of my own exclusive designs, and the world will know what Camelot truly stands for: timelessness, storytelling, and intentional living.
