Check Out Isabel Fehn’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Fehn

Hi Isabel , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as a content creator, photographer, and journalist began with a deep love for storytelling and the outdoors. After becoming a mother, I found myself drawn to nature in a way I hadn’t experienced before—it became both a refuge and a source of inspiration. Wanting to share these experiences, I started documenting my adventures through photography and writing, initially as a personal creative outlet. Over time, this passion evolved into something more. I began pitching stories, refining my photography skills, and immersing myself in the world of adventure travel journalism.

As I built my portfolio, I combined my background in modeling, my experience working in a level 1 trauma center emergency room, and my love for functional medicine to craft narratives that go beyond simple travel guides. I aim to tell immersive stories that connect people to places—whether it’s exploring a rugged backcountry trail, discovering the cultural heartbeat of a city, or embracing family traditions in the great outdoors. Today, I work as an outdoor travel journalist, photographer, and influencer, collaborating with tourism boards, brands, and publications to inspire others to seek adventure and meaningful experiences. It’s been a journey of passion, persistence, and growth, and I’m excited to continue exploring the world and sharing its stories.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road—building a career in content creation, photography, and journalism comes with its own set of challenges. One of the biggest struggles has been navigating the unpredictable nature of freelance work. There were times when opportunities felt abundant, and others when it seemed like I was pitching endlessly without responses. Learning to balance creativity with the business side of things—negotiating contracts, marketing myself, and managing deadlines—was a steep learning curve. Additionally, working in adventure travel often means pushing myself physically and mentally, whether it’s braving extreme weather conditions for the perfect shot or juggling travel with motherhood.

Another challenge has been carving out my unique voice in a crowded industry. The digital space is constantly evolving, and standing out requires persistence, adaptability, and a willingness to continuously learn. There were moments of self-doubt, but I’ve learned to embrace them as part of the journey. Every challenge has ultimately shaped me into a stronger storyteller, and I’ve found that the most rewarding experiences often come from pushing through the struggles. Through it all, my passion for adventure and storytelling has kept me going, and I wouldn’t trade this path for anything else.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an outdoor travel journalist, photographer, and content creator, my work revolves around storytelling that inspires adventure and meaningful connections with nature. I specialize in capturing immersive travel experiences, whether that’s exploring rugged landscapes, uncovering hidden cultural gems, or showcasing family-friendly outdoor adventures. My photography focuses on authentic, compelling visuals that transport audiences to the destinations I cover, while my writing blends personal narrative with practical insights to encourage others to embrace adventure, no matter their stage in life. Through blog posts, articles, and social media content, I partner with tourism boards, brands, and publications to bring destinations to life in a way that feels engaging, accessible, and inspiring.

What I’m most proud of is the ability to weave together my diverse experiences—my background in modeling, my time in a level 1 trauma center emergency room, my years as a firefighter and paramedic, and my passion for functional medicine—into storytelling that’s both visually stunning and deeply personal. What sets me apart is my perspective as a mother who found her love for the outdoors later in life, proving that adventure isn’t reserved for a select few but is something anyone can embrace. I approach my work with authenticity and a deep respect for the places I explore, ensuring that my content not only inspires but also educates and encourages responsible, sustainable travel. My goal is always to tell stories that spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and remind people of the transformative power of the natural world.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The COVID-19 crisis was a defining period in my life, both professionally and personally. As a firefighter working on the frontlines during the height of the pandemic, I witnessed firsthand the immense strain on emergency responders and the healthcare system. The weight of that experience was overwhelming at times, and I quickly realized that in order to continue showing up for others, I needed to take care of my own mental and emotional well-being. That’s when I turned to the outdoors as my form of therapy. Nature became my refuge—whether it was hiking, biking, or simply breathing in the fresh air, spending time outside allowed me to process the challenges I faced and find moments of peace amid the chaos.

One of the most important lessons I learned during that time was the power of resilience and the healing effect of reconnecting with the natural world. The outdoors provided me with a sense of balance and renewal, which ultimately influenced the direction of my career. It reinforced my belief that adventure isn’t just about exploration—it’s about restoration, growth, and perspective. That experience shaped the way I tell stories today, inspiring others to seek adventure not just for the thrill, but for the profound impact it can have on mental and emotional well-being.
