Check Out Jameson Gregson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jameson Gregson.

Jameson Gregson

Hi Jameson, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Most of my musical prowess comes from my mother. She sang in church in the mornings, and with friends after dinner parties. She had a vast collection of music ranging from James Taylor, to The Clash (although her taste stayed heavily in folk music). She always supported my musical endeavors, and is continually excited to hear that I’m sticking with it.

In 2007, my friend asked me if I wanted to go see Daft Punk at Red Rocks the day of the show (for $50 mind you). I did some extra chores in an effort to persuade my mom to give me the money & a ride out to Morrison since I was only 15 at the time. The show absolutely blew me away. Later that night my friends and I all went home and got ripped versions of Ableton Live 7 – the DAW Daft Punk utilized. It was that show that helped cultivate the musical energy and creativity that I had built up from previous music lessons, years of drumming, and my parents being musically inclined.

From there, I’ve gone through different personal eras of making house & electro music, to lofi hip hop, and back to house music. I’ve released an EP titled ‘Disco Lemonade’, an album titled ‘Jargon’, and I’m gearing up to release my second album titled ‘SELF CTRL’.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been smooth…As a matter of fact it never really has.

I have the “blessing” of overthinking and over analyzing just about everything, which definitely bleeds into my music. It can be useful in instances where I’m finishing up a track and hear some small imperfection & fix it, but when I first started out I had doubts that I was never gonna be good enough. Always comparing myself to others & being a VERY harsh critic on my work. That kept all of my music locked in my hard drive until friends told me I need to let the world hear it.

The biggest struggle I’ve had through this journey was with my mother’s battle with depression & suicidal ideation. She’s doing okay at this point, but has been a hard road and has kept me away from releasing music for a year or so. The last single I put out was written in the headspace I was in at that time and is aptly titled ‘Distress’.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a music producer specializing in house / electronic music. I have worn many hats in the way of music making, but this genre is definitely where I will stay. I am known for wearing a suit and bringing a briefcase to most of my sets (really leaning into the moniker of ‘The Attorney’). The more music I make the better I seem to get (thankfully), and the more proud of it I’ve become. My next project is some of my best work and I am very excited to get it out, but the track ‘Plea Bargain’ of off my last release ‘Jargon’ is my favorite track I’ve gotten out so far.

I try not to take myself too seriously, and really try not to adhere to the traditional style of music making (as much as possible). At the base of it all, I want to make music for me and others like me. If it takes me somewhere: cool. If it doesn’t: I won’t stop the hustle.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Be on the look out for ‘SELF CTRL’ a 17 track album coming out next year, with my first single from the project dropping 01.01.26 !!!
